Olbermann Calls Barbara Bush "Worst Person in the World"
Newsbusters ^ | 3-24-2006 | Brad Wilmouth

Posted on 03/24/2006 8:04:54 AM PST by rcocean

On his Countdown show Thursday night, MSNBC's Keith Olbermann devoted part of his "Worst Person in the World" segment to attacking former First Lady Barbara Bush over a donation she made to the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund, a donation she required be used to buy education software for Houston schools from her son Neil's software company. Olbermann snapped that if you "make the charity give the donation to your son, it's not a damned donation anymore!" However, the Countdown host neglected to mention that the Bush family had also given other donations without any requirement as to how the money should be spent.

I have watched enough of his show to know that it has become 100% Conservative Bashing, all the time.

MSNBC is doing an "Air America" with Olberman's show, countering Fox News. They think Fox is a right-wing network, therefore, they can go hard left and attract the majority of Americans they believe to be liberal.

They just don't get it. Only 17% of Americans call themselves liberal and half of those don't know what "liberal" means. There's just no market out there, but the Liberals assume there must be, since they only know Liberals.

Olberdork was allegedly involved with this chick. If true, that makes him one step away from engaging in beastiality.

That guy's show is worse than useless...

But I suspect MSNBC knows that by now....

It seems they have no other choice but to bottom feed. They have tried everything else to attain ratings and have failed. They will likely just put on a load of crap for the kooks and hope the stockholders don't get PO'd.

Nothing sets my hair on fire quicker than hearing of these hineywipes bashing MawMaw Bush. Knowing that she can well take care of herself allows me to be content with smiling at every misfortune that strikes them the rest of their worthless lives.

After watching Brian Lamb interview this loser on CSPIN I am convinced he's unhinged. Can't imagine being around someone that removed from the real world.

At my university, a private, church-affiliated institution, we are happy to receive donations with "ties," as long as these donations are nevertheless useful to our mission. For example, gifts of appreciated assets enabling the donor to avoid taxes, and remainder trusts enabling the donor to continue to receive the income from investments during the duration of their life. We don't call these people "the worst people in the world." We call them "benefactors."

BUT ... if the only gifts you make to charity are those that do you good, you already have gotten your reward.

Our usual experience is that most donors share of their time and talent in addition to their money, and that many donors start with donations motivated by tax savings and/or cleaning out their closet, and grow into what the Bible describes as "cheerful givers."

Keith is an old sports guy - perhaps someone should simply holler "Scroeboard" and hand him his ratings book. I think he'd understand.

A friend of mine works at MSNBC. She told me that Keith and his production team have decided the only way to raise his ratings is to become as loud and outrageous as possible.

He is being an ass - in order to generate buzz.

NOT WORKING

The guy has been hitting new lows week after week. His unprofessionalism is now unprecedented in broadcast media.

This is Kaplan's baby now. Let's see how he handles it.

If Barbara Bush had bought the software from her son's company and donated it to the Houston schools, would she have still been "the worst person in the world"? Incredible logic.

I ran across Olbermann's program last night while he and Dana Milbank were giggling over the memo about Cheney's hotel requirements (diet Sprite, TV tuned to Fox News Channel, etc.)...they seemed to be trying to make it into a big scandal but they came across like a couple of immature high school kids.
