I was still living at home at 22.
I was 25. Course I was working full time--2nd shift-- and going to college....hardly home at all.
But how was your room ;)
I was 18 when the Army removed me from home. After my discharge, I was invited to stay at home for a short period, but was charged rent. I was incensed, but paid it. I soon found a reason to leave permanently. Re-instate the draft and the problem of 18 plus kids at home would be solved. For the really messy kids, make sure they are inducted into the Marines. That's a swift cure for many bad behaviors.
Beat you! My PARENTS moved out, and sold the house when I was 23!
Dad took a job in Libya (pre-Kadaffi) and Mom moved to Malta, to be close enough to him for visits & vacations.
I, on my income, had no choice but to find cheaper digs, closer to my job.
Not long afterwards, my now-wife's parents sold THEIR house out from under her, and moved to Venezuela, on a three year contract.
Some of us are harder to get out of the nest than others.
I will say though, that we both did work and regularly pay board & room once we were out of high school.
