Failed presidential candidate John Kerry offered a startling prediction Friday morning: If the U.S. doesn't change its global warming ways, New York City and Boston will be destroyed by flooding by 2036.
"I can say to an absolute certainty," Kerry told radio host Don Imus, "that if things stay exactly as they are today absent some unpredictable change in what's going on, within the next 30 years the Arctic ice sheet is gone.
"Not maybe, not if - the Arctic ice sheet is gone," the Massachusetts Democrat insisted, before offering his hair-raising prediction.
"Already you have the Greenland ice sheet beginning to melt . . . If that melts, you have a level of sea level increase that wipes out Boston Harbor, New York Harbor - I mean, it's just stunning what we're looking at."
Kerry blamed the Bush administration's environmental policies for the coming destruction of New York and Boston.
"Europe and the other countries are responding," he told Imus. "The United States remains oblivious - at least the administration remains oblivious."
Despite the dire warning, Kerry hasn't done much to change his own global warming ways.
At last report, he and his wife still owned several SUV's, a gas guzzling yacht, five BTU gobbling homes and a private jet.
Like fellow environmentalist RFK, Jr., Kerry continues to withold his support for the proposed construction of a wind farm in the waters off Nantucket, where he and his wife own a mansion.
Why doesn't Lurch the Loser go away?
(1) After spending soooo much time with Ted Kennedy, Kerry really MUST know that "ice floats".
(2) However, in spite of that, Kerry may never seen a drink last long enough for the ice in that drink to melt, causing that drink to NOT "overflow".
(3) That lack of relevant experience could explain why Kerry has stated as "fact" the goofy theory that melting Arctic ice would raise sea levels and flood Boston.
(4) On the other hand, "Science" could be one of the subjects in which Kerry earned a "D" at Yale.
Oh don't you know? 2008 is going to be a total rehash of 2004 and 2000, the leftists want Clark, Kerry, Gore and Edwards to run. So we have to listen to these idiots lose pieces of brain matter until then.
Will global warming prevent the next ice age?
Even jean pierre kerrie's hot air can't melt these babys.
And the negative news is????
I heard him on Imus this morning. He was booed before he came on by the audience at the remote site.
Not one positive word came out of his mouth during the entire interview, just one whiney bitch after another.
After a particularly long, monotone, droning rant, Imus commented, "I'm sorry Senator, I was thinking about something else while you were speaking."
He was a definate buzz kill after some of the other more upbeat guests, most memorable being Romney.
Heh heh, and Imus is one of his supporters.
These two figures show former temperatures with major periods of glaciation labeled. The dashed lines are the present global average temperature of about 15° C (59° F). Thus the solid curves show small changes from this average; note that the temperature drops only about 5° C during a glaciation. This has occurred about every 100,000 years, with smaller wiggles in between. That is, there has been a 100,000 year glaciation cycle for the past million years or so, and there may be shorter cycles as well.
The most recent glaciation, 20,000 years ago, is called the Laurentide, and Earth is still recovering from it. This map from the The Illinois State Museum exhibit on ice ages shows the extent of that ice.
The most recent small drop in average temperature caused the Little Ice Age of 1500-1700 AD, which history describes. Mountain glaciers advanced in Europe and rivers like the Thames in England froze solid, which doesn't happen now.
Sure will miss them
You are right. It's taking too long. Maybe someone will come up with a better plan
(using JFKerry logic)
his prediction is now "seared in my memory..."
And he's unggggh ugly, too.

If only Kerry had won. He'd reverse the melting of the icecaps in less than five years, while keeping America secure without war or force.
He'd fix soshacuritie, end poverty, and pay off the National Debt, too.
I wish now I'd voted for him instead of Nader, but I didn't know his abilities back then.
And it won't raise the ocean 1 Cm since it floats.
How can anybody this ignorant be elected to public office? The Europeans have acknowledged that Kyoto is a failure; they can't even meet their own emissions goals, China and India don't give a Democrat's a$$ for any clean air treaties and continue to industrialize at breakneck speed, and Bush couldn't sign on to Kyoto even if he wanted to-it was defeated in the (Clintoon-era) Senate! *
*(Nevertheless, it's STILL Bush's fault!;)
