Picture a situation -- say Boieng vs. Airbus -- where all the material elements are equal or equalize out(just for the sake of argument). If I was them, in the past I might have leaned towards the US. Now, if the $$ net the same, I would lean AWAY from the US.
This cowardice, uninformed bias, and stupidity on our part will cost us for a long time.
The only issue is that Boeing and Airbus don't equal or equalize.
Both have different planes and few match up exactly for what an airline needs.
The A380 will seat hundreds more than a 747.
Airbus has no two engine plane that matches up against the 777.
The A350 is to compete against the 787, but its now been pushed back another year from rollout, and airlines know Airbust is claiming performance numbers for the A350 they will never be able to deliver.
Emirates will end up buying the planes that best suits their needs. Too do otherwise would be moronic as a business operator.
