Educators are supposedly so dedicated to promoting self-esteem in children. Which account of origins provides more of a feeling of worth...hearing you are an accidental product of billions of years that culminated in a monkey-person, or hearing that God created you out of special love for humanity? I know which world view I'd rather have my children be taught. I firmly believe the animal behavior of so many in our society, both young and old, is due to the very fact that they were told they are animals, and so they act like it. Gangs are a perfect result of Darwin's "survival of the fittest."
Say WHAT??? I think you have this confused with DU. "Promoting self-esteem" is one of the worst things that teachers could possible teach.
Educators should be dedicated to EDUCATING.
A whole new field of endeavor.
Don't like where scientific theories go? Well, just change them to get the result you want. No big deal. Its only science.
And its for the children.
In looking back over your post, I found another glaring error.
Gangs are not the "perfect result of Darwin's 'survival of the fittest.'"
I would say that families and tribes, or other small social groups, are.
Tell me, how many viable offspring would you expect from gangs, vs. families and small social groups?
Your post suggests you just blindly attacked what you perceive to be the theory of evolution, without a single thought that we are the product of thousands of generations of successful families and groups. The successful ones are those who see that their offspring have offspring of their own. That is not a "gang" type of behavior.
(The unsuccessful ones, both human and non-human, are extinct.)
