Officially? What officially? Show me. Provide a link to an official UAE statement of their radical ideological opposition.
It's an Islamic state. Islam is radically opposed to us. The UAE has produced radical Islamic terrorists who have killed Americans and would like to kill more. I think it was perfectly reasonable to want more assurances on this point. That said, I think Congress' action was stupid and just a bit of grandstanding.
