"This is not a hate crime. This is not a religious crime."

No problem...cut through the red tape, pc and psychological/psychiatric reasons and call it what it is.

Arson...multiple charges and premeditated. Case closed.

Yes, she was from Mountain Brook. I grew up and went to high school there. Still have much younger siblings who are in school there. I have many ideas about that story, sadly, I don't believe it will ever really be solved.

Yep. Gotta have that 4-bean salad. Isn't it great to discuss something light and frivilous for a change?

My daughter is about the same age as Natalee and her class went to Cancun for their senior trip two years ago. They had one adult for each three children in attendance and were watched like hawks. I'm afraid if she had asked to go to Aruba with one chaperone per dozen kids, I probably would have consented. She, as Natalee, is a straight A student, very trustworthy and responsible. As the mother of a beautiful Alabama girl, I don't think I'll ever stop wondering about Natalee Holloway.

War Eagle!

I have many theories about the case, but it all seems so jumbled and no one - on any side - is being honest, in my humble opinion. I feel for her parents. But I also know that my parents would have never allowed me to go on a trip with just a handful of chaperones, most of whom were football coaches and their young wives. I am sure they were just seeing it as a free vacation.

We live in Huntsville now, and love it up here.

What do you think happened to her?

One thing I always found interesting was that people wanted to protray the Twitty's as very rich, and they aren't.

Agree, hershey. Very sad - these types of behaviour don't just drop out of the sky.

Actually, yes. I plan on stopping down to the FReep Support THe Troops Rally at Walter Reed Medical Hospital in DC for a half hour, then I am heading to a promotion for a friends comedy show down in Chinatown.

Sounds like a well-rounded evening! Will you be posting an After Action Report?

Also, the president of Birmingham-Southern College who said they would provide financial assistance to the churches (coming from the United Methodist Church), also said they would provide labor for rebuilding.

Would love to see the money come from the "utes" rather than the school. Would also like to see them have to help in the rebuilding of the churches.

On the other hand, it wouldn't be fair to make the congregations wait that long.

As the churches are being rebuilt and refurbished, why can't a judge give them a sentence that includes supervised hours of working on the churches.

They'd probably have to work at night, alone, with a guard. I'm sure there are many forgiving people from those churches but maybe it would be a distraction to have them working alongside the arsonists and someone might get hurt.

I swore off watching CourtTV years ago, and usually avoid the True Crime threads on FR just because they get so heated, but I am going to make an exception and follow the hell out of this one. Just wait until their emails and private messages become public!

Besides, I'm dying to find out how the three little sociopaths got together in the first place.

GMTA...I was thinking the same thing. I want to know what makes people do things like this.

Lefty posters are pining for the pain for the families of the creeps & embarrassment for community and school that now has crashed down on them.

bwteim, I'm no Lefty but until I know more, I do have sympathy for the families of these arsonists.

I used to not be that way, but when someone in one's own family does something that pains the rest of the family, one's attitude shifts.

I've been there and it is a very, very painful place to be.

My opinion is not a very popular one (at least not openly popular.) I think she is no longer living, but I think she died from an accident, and not a malicious rape, attack or murder by the Aruban boys. I think absolutely heavy drinking was involved in her death, maybe even drugs.

I believe the Aruban boys are involved in some way, but not in a "murderer" type of way. I think she died by accident, they panicked, and she was dropped in the ocean or buried very deeply.

I went to high school with some of the Twitty family, and they were fairly well off. I don't know about this particular part of the family, though.

Do you have any ideas about this case?

How utterly ... unsurprising ... that these idiots should be "satanists." Looks like my "goth" suspicions are a lot closer to being confirmed.

Indeed! Satanists and goths didn't occur to me. I was so focused on the fact that all of the churches were Baptist. I didn't take into account the number of Baptist churches vs. other denominations in the area. I just figured they had it in for the Baptists!

I think we need to be a little patient and let the information develop. It's still early days.

Correct to not render judgment so early, but sometimes those early days are when truth and fiction and lies change fundamentally what actually happened.

Hate to be so cynical, MM, but the spinmeisters shape "reality" sometimes before we've even had a chance at the truth.

Guess we need to be prudent and "what-not"...

BTW, it is illegal to spotlight deer in Alabama regardless if one has a gun in the vehicle or not.

Thanks, Quilla...not being a hunter, I didn't really know what spotlighting deer meant!

Oh, the things you learn on FR....LOL!
