Hoo boy. Now I'm starting to see how they could burn down churches "as a joke". It's going to difficult for the jury to believe that two wannabe Satanists burned down a bunch of churches with no malice in their hearts...

We reap what we sow. When the MSM and the vulgarization of pop culture (The De Vinci Code, for instance, MTV, movies, Hollywood stars and TV in general), trash Christianity for years, when courts rule against display of the Holy Family and the manger at Christmas, when Christ is not just marginalized, but hated and persecuted, why is this a big surprise? Three kids thinking it's funny to torch ten churches is perfectly logical. They probably thought they'd get a reality TV deal. The only surprise is that mobs of empty-headed kids haven't done this sooner.

DeBusk invited Burgess and others to go demon hunting last summer. Burgess said it didn't amount to much.

Au contraire, I think some in the hunting party were successful.

Theatre students, eh? How thrilling. Perhaps they can do a play about their prison experience.

Meanwhile, I'll take a bow for my predictions on that thread. Looks like I was right: disaffected white boys.
___________

LOL. You're good, no doubt. But RedBadger actually nailed their religious background. You get an "atta boy", but all hat taking off will be in RedBadger's direction.

Sorry, decisions of the judges are final, and there will be no appeals.

Actually, yes. I plan on stopping down to the FReep Support THe Troops Rally at Walter Reed Medical Hospital in DC for a half hour, then I am heading to a promotion for a friends comedy show down in Chinatown.

I also wondered if they were Satanists. There was a devil worship cult a few years ago which burned large numbers of churches in several states. The head of it and his stripper girlfriend were caught and received long sentences (unless a governor pardoned them). However, they also had followers, mainly young teens at that time, who signed pledges in blood to continue doing evil.

Given their acting ambitions and it's role models, why would it be such a surprise that they might have something against Christians? Liberals hate politically incorrect Christians and don't hide it. Liberal Christians are the most hateful and intolerant of all.

There are a lot of left wingers in the Methodist church. Also drama queens would enjoy the "prank" of being rebellious against the prevailing culture (Christian) of the school. These idiots had a reason to target Baptist churches with arson "pranks." If it is a liberal excuse, we will never be informed by the old media or the perps.

Hey, he's not one of ours! We got frat boy satanists over here, class president, homecoming king, up-and-comers now spiraling downward--but they're not that guy! He did the 10th church. Not in this "secret club."

From Birmingham News: "Ian Cunningham, a sophomore who lived in the same dorm as DeBusk, recalled returning from the campus chapel recently to snide remarks about being saved from DeBusk and Moseley. "He would constantly mock me," Cunningham said of DeBusk.

They hated Christians and it was no accident they went after the churches. It was not a prank.

Yeah, I've about decided the deer-hunting story was bogus, because of the isolated locations of these churches. They had to purposely be going to that first one, not just out on a lark.

On the Trussville and other forums at the Birmingham News, some people said that this little cult had been going out to these country churches and using them as bathrooms when they were out drinking, before all this.

So, I believe the deer story is a cover for the *intent* of this "prank."

Oh, Moseley went to Clay-Chalkville HS and is considered from Trussville, rather than Grayson or Grayson Valley, whatever it said initially.

Also, the president of Birmingham-Southern College who said they would provide financial assistance to the churches (coming from the United Methodist Church), also said they would provide labor for rebuilding.

So, I guess the other students are going to have to go out there and do what these guys ought to be doing? Sheesh.

I mean, theater majors from BSC know anything about spotlighting deer???

Only if they're playing lead.

His name is Matthew Cloyd and there is info scattered around through the thread. It was his parents' SUV that was tracked to the unusual tires. LE found the tire dealer and contacted Cloyd's mom, who asked him about it.

He initially said he knew who did it and he was there. Then he fully confessed. He goes to UA-Birmingham now but transferred from BSC this semester or school year. His dad is a doctor. There's more about him on the thread, which I would misquote if I tried without looking.

Listening to latest recap on Fox about the perps (two "aspiring actors", "satanist") reminds me of the amoral characters in Hitchcock's Rope, committing a crime to see if they can get away with it.

I was thinking that indentured servitude would be a just punishment in this case. The three of them would have to rebuild ten churches with their own hands. When the work was completed and passed inspection, they'd be free to go.

On the other hand, it wouldn't be fair to make the congregations wait that long.
