"The Roe v. Wade decision and the popular acceptance of abortion were produced by this cultural erosion. The decision would have been unimaginable if the nation had not already decided to cast aside a cultural inheritance shaped by the Christian conscience. We knew what we were doing. We are not innocent.

The bold is where I disagree with the author. Roe vs. Wade was forced down our throats by a samll few and took most of us by complete surprise.

There was a cultural shift in values, and the sexual revolution, and many good innocent people at the time, aware of the erosion of morals, simply did not know how to fight back effectively, which is different from not fighting back at all.

I was 15 when Roe vs. Wade was legalized and I don't feel the tiniest bit responsible for it. Furthermore, I and my family sacrificed much for the pro-life cause off and on since college.

I think you're right. I was 18 at the time and remember it too. It came out of left field (no pun intended). I think most adults didn't think about the issue then, probably because of the Vietnam War, and those who watched such things probably thought the SCOTUS case was a joke. They weren't expecting such a ridiculous decision.
