Some of those short films looked interesting. I was glad "March of the Penguins" won too. Hoffman was charming in his accpetance speech, Witherspoon was awful. Lee can't speak English, I don't know how he manages to do his job, but he seems like a sweet man. And Nicholson could not have conveyed more sarcasm had he been phoning it in from FR itself.

That "Grizzly Man" wasn't even nominated for Best Documentary is a cloud of shame on their heads.

Thanks for your comments....I didn't watch the awards ceremony because I was afraid that it would be a celebration of liberal hedonism.

Am glad that King Kong, Narnia, March of the Penguins won awards. Best Picture went to Crash and not to the gay cowboy movie.

I didn't watch the Academy Awards, but I did switch over from time to time, and I saw Reese Witherspoon announced and listened to her acceptance speech. I thought she gave a nice speech, and she looked beautiful...she wasn't falling out of her dress, nor was the skirt split to her waist. She seems to be a very nice person and doesn't belong to the "smoke'em dope'em" crowd. Her entire family was there, and when she acknowledged her grandmother and the advice she had given her, the camera showed her grandmother crying. I haven't seen or read anything about her espousing her political views, but then I don't follow the movie industry too much....just what I read here and on Drudge.
