I suppose on this thread it goes without saying, but I'll say in anyway...BOYCOTT THE OSCARS tonight.
I want the ratings for this year's program go into the toilet (where most the nominated movies belong). I won't waste my money to see the films, my electricity to watch the Oscars, or my time watching to witness Hollywood's self-adulation fest.
Pass it on...
Don't plan on watching. With jon stewart hosting, it will most likely be a Bush bashing monologue.
Duh...........
Boycott Oscar Mayer?

But if Stewart is funny, I'll be laughing. Given how hilarious the Daily Show is, I can expect nothing less.
After all, Bush is only a glorified civil servant; I don't invest my entire ego in some Yaley in a suit.
Dallas Stars hockey tonight....
Hairdressers. No, wait......

I don't watch awards shows anyway but you must see Walk The Line.
IMHO it's up there with Forrest Gump.
Itchy trigger finger there, bud.
I can' watch. I'm going to see a movie about a gay, transgendered newsman exposing Senator McCarthy.
I've got some hydroponic buckets that need to be cleaned, besides I don't own a TV anymore.
I only care about whether "Wallace and Gromit" gets an award. The human actors are dumber than a lump of clay.
>>Gay Love. The love that won't shut up!
As Howie Carr put it, "Whatever happened to 'the love that dare not speak its name'? Now it won't SHADDUP!!"
Well in this case I am being quite literal. My wife rented a movie with her in it (not one of her porn flicks)called the Hillz. The store was empty and we needed something other than this homo-erotic, terror filled lovefest.
"Look at that...decadent plunging neckline."
I won't be watching because I really don't care for most show people*. They are near unilaterally self absorbed, and they care nothing for the folks who attend their films.
As a group, show people are not exactly "bookish". Yet, they are not shy about suggesting how we common peons should live our lives.
Show people and their entertainment media have degenerated to the production of the glorification of disrespect (of parents, country, and etc.) and the illustration of one left wing moral lesson after another - - punctuated my wardrobe malfunctions of increasing frequency.
When I think of show people, I think of Jane Fonda grinning broadly and wearing a North Vietnamese helmet while aiming a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun pretending to shoot American warplanes.
I think of Julia Roberts who said Republican comes in the dictionary just after reptile and just above repugnant.
And I think of the allegedly cerebral Bill Maher who said just following the 9/11 attacks "We have been the cowards, lobbing cruise missiles from 2,000 miles away. That's cowardly. Staying in the airplane when it hits the building, say what you want about it, it's not cowardly."
No thanks. I don't watch show people parade their unwarranted opinions of themselves and their inbred social order on award shows.
I'm above that. And each of you should be, as well.
So, while not a boycott, I suggest that we don't lower ourselves to the real status of show people (that of carnival operators with good teeth.)
* Exceptions, I can think of several. Jimmy Stewart comes to mind first.
