Great post and link. Mirrors the surveillance issue a little bit - WH said "significant purpose is foreign intelligence" and the other branches follow along. A counter-example is the Department of Homeland Security, which was formed along the lines Congress chose.

As long as there is give and take, the people have an opportunity to see the arguments. Once give and take stops, we're fully "subjects."

McConnell up talking about the budget, deficeit, and health of the economy.

I like this guy alot - have more respect for him than any other Senator that comes to mind. I think his style is to stay one layer behind leadership - "the mind behind the front man." I like him much better than Hatch (and I generally like Hatch). McConnell is an unsung hero.
