Senate Coverage -- (March '06)
Thomas ^ | 3-1-06 | US Congress

Posted on 03/01/2006 6:27:28 AM PST by OXENinFLA

Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).

So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and I'll try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.

If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let me know.

Here's a few helpful links.

C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.

C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.

C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.

C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.

OR FEDNET has online feed also.

A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).

THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]

Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate Majority and Senate Minority

And Monthly Calendars for the House Majority and Roll Call Votes can be found here.

I must really not know the Senate...I thought they were all about cutting the deficit...especially the dems /s

All talk and no action ..

And if they don't get their butts in gear .. it will comes back to bite them in the rear end

Boy...oh Boy...President Bush is blamed for the deficit...but the GOP Senators don't seem to want to help

It's congress that is spending the money .. and they are more then happy to let the President take the blame for it

Why else do you think they always tack on those pork projects to important legislation

Because they know the President won't veto a military spending bill or an education bill

BTW .. after years of having screaming matches with my one brother .. he FINALLY see's the light and agrees with me ... Woo Hoo!!

I would LOVE to see President Bush veto the LIHEAP Bill that passed today...

I hope Frist is listening to Reid accusing him of stacking the deck in favor of K Street lobbyests. I would be inclined to cross the aisle and punch him in the nose.

The day that Frist would punch Reid in the nose, would be the day that he would jump to FIRST in the prospective POTUS candidates....LOL

I am at my daughter's house today...and I can't get the speakers to work on her computer...

Sooo...IF anything good happens in the Senate today...could you just post a note now and then, please??

LOL. That would raise him way up in my estimation. Reid is complaining about the ever increasing national debt and then says it's evidence that the Republicans are trying to starve the government. This is truly comedy.

Whoa...there Reid!!!

WE the people WATCHED yesterday when Sessions, Coburn, and Lott were on the floor BEGGING for the Senate NOT to break the budget for the LIHEAP additional funds...

WE see the truth, you idiot!

Amazing, Reid makes Frist look strong. Reid is complaining about not getting the stem cell bill to the floor. Reid is consistently referring to the majority leader as DOCTOR Frist while talking about stem cells. He's basically admitted that no one knows if stem cells will save us all, but the important thing is to give people hope. Giving people false hope is not a kind or a Christian thing at all.

Yes....just like Kerry and Edwards did in 2004, when they were saying that if they were elected, the stem cell research of embryos would get "everyone in wheel chairs walking"...

THAT would be cruel, if it weren't so laughable.

Frist is calling Reid out on the "stacking the committee for K Street" remark. He's saying this is getting old and childish, a very true statement.

Reid is NOT owning up to what he said. He is shucking and jiving. Says he has a right to complain because the avian flu vaccine was a sweetheart deal for the pharmacutical industry. How you encourage making the vaccine without benefiting the industry that makes it is beyond me.

Here comes Lott. He hesitates to tiptoe into these waters. LOL. I'll bet. He's trying to get Reid to move on the pension thing. It appears that they want to shore up pensions with government money backing, as you indicated.
