Greeting, fellow Americans. I have some serious news for you about the war against the terrorists, the war we are fighting to protect our liberties and our Constitution against Islamic totalitarianism. We're losing, big time. I don't mean we're losing in Iraq, where our brave men and women are fighting well in difficult conditions and with the home grown doubters at their heels. Nor in Afghanistan, where our men and women in uniform are also fighting brilliantly.
No, we are losing our freedom here at home, and in a particularly nasty way. It has to do with those cartoons mocking Mohammed that were published in a Danish publication and have excited riots and burnings across the Moslem world and fear and terror in Europe.
The problem here is that some students at the University of Illinois' student newspaper thought -- with some reason -- that the cartoons are newsworthy. They published six of them along with a written statement of why the cartoons were offensive. A few Moslem students complained, which surely is their right. The university officials stepped in and the student editors were essentially fired. Yes, because a student publication might cause offense. Imagine that.
That's on top of the fact that despite these cartoons being huge news, not one major paper has reprinted them. Not the fearless Washington Post, not the thorough Wall Street Journal, not any major newspaper of record that I know of. Nor have any of the major networks shown them, as far as I know.
So here's where we are: we have a first amendment guaranteeing freedom of speech and separation of church and state. That means so-called artists can make art of a crucifix soaking in urine and of holy Christian images made of animal dung and no one can stop them. That means bookstores of brick and on-line can sell Mein Kampf and the vilest writings of Hitler's lackeys. These horrible excrescences are protected and the media screams bloody murder if anyone tries to protect the sacred in Christianity and Judaism from the most putrid attacks.
But the media censors itself about the cartoons mocking the prophet of a religion many of whose adherents want to destroy our country and our way of life. We will fight to the death to protect the artists who create Piss Christ, but we'll also fight to the death to protect the feelings of the people who hate us and kill our children. We have surrendered our free expression to people who are at war with us. They kill us in the name of a religion and we bow and scrape to that religion while letting people dump on Christianity and Judaism.
There's a word for this, beyond the words Stockholm Syndrome and the words Political Correctness. The word is cowardice. Or maybe an even shorter word: defeat. Wake up, America. This is serious.
I remember very well the limbless soldier cartoon we here at FR took strong exception to. Some of us here truly believed that no responsible newspaper should have printed that. 'Nuff said. Thanks again for the article.

Exactly my point on that last question. What good DO they do? It's like ragging on a teenager with low self esteem...Helpful?? Self censorship is surrender, huh? That's only true at certain times and certain conditions.Of course the MSM bows at the alter of PC but how does that translate into surrender? Retreat,perhaps, by the Political Lefties to be corrected hopefully later.

Exactly!. You got that right. That's why the left invented it. PC, multiculturalism, deconstructivism", "environmentalism" and all the other bravo sierra baloney the leftist, socialist, anti-American "isms" the left concocts. "Peace" is another code word for defeating freedom and America.
The left is very clever for saying one thing and it meaning the exact opposite.
Personally, I think push is gonna come to shove in this country and we're going to have an armed revolution between the "liberals" and the side of right and might, me, us, you.

Our hometown weekly, The County Press, ran one.
Fox News showed them.
As I understand it, the New York Sun ran them all.
They were on a pile of FR threads.
They were -- and remain -- all over the Internet. Anybody who wants to see them can.
We aren't losing. The MSM is losing. The Moslem radicals are losing.
And my vote is to change the MSM (Mainstream Media) acronym to the much more accurate and versatile DM -- which can mean Dinosaur Media, Dumb Media, Dishonest Media, Democratic Media, any of which would fit.
What's at stake ? Literally everything.
Why is a religion is held so sacred? We need to get over that. These are killers.
But as long as W gets credit politically and the GOP retains power, many think it's all just fine.

The MSM, along with the Dimocratic Party, has been at serious war with this country for years.
Anything we can do, as Americans, to help the MSM go broke is a good thing.

As to adding a fuel to a fire that's raging.......the fire will rage because the Islamofascists will make it until people submit to them. Any culture that submits to them will become slaves. Period.
You're absolutely right, anyone that would riot over those has mental problems! The fire will rage here and everywhere else around the world just as it continues to do in Israel.
These people will not be satisfied until Israel is wiped off the face of the map and the same essentially applies to the rest of the world.
Again, it's right in the beginning of the Koran that everyone claims to be an expert in but no one has read. Hitler did the same thing. He wrote a book on his intentions. No one paid any attention.
There is very, very little socio-political difference between Islam and Nazism. Islam is nothing more than all the hatred and racism of Nazism under the umbrella of a religion.
We can combine this with the President's poor poll results, as contrived as they are, and it is shocking that no one is noticing that the economy is going full steam, and we are winning in Iraq and the in the GWOT.
It's just hard to show people had bad that mushroom cloud destiny would have been, if we hadn't started the GWOT, and changed the equation in the ME.
Dhimmi Media. As long as they still have something to surrender they'll be just fine.
Don't forget that the Muslim religion has been HIJACKED by ruthless radical fascist type killers. Should we broad brush the whole religion as Jihadis?.....not a smart move. I do believe that no religion is beyond criticism but should be done discretely and appropriately. In simple terms: hate and kill the truly bad guys and leave the rest alone.

Ben Stein for President! A President who "gets it" is just what this country needs.
That's be great, wouldn't it.
But he's right, we're winning the battle (Iraq/Afghanistan, etc.) but losing the war (homefront,media,socio-political aspect).
