After coming back here, I was taken back at the lack of knowledge that my fellow Americans had of world events. "Forget conversation.......Some even asked me if we were still in Kosovo, where is Kosovo, etc..........."
Well, how many Kosovo citizens do you think are knowledgeable of world events and geography? Think they all know where Chicago is, or Atlanta? Or where some of the Latin American countries are? I suspect a larger percentage of Americans are somewhat knowledgeable of world events than are Kosovo citizens, don't you think? There's always room for improvement, but don't sell your American citizens short. Especially Freepers.
Many of the ones you mentioned know better than most Americans. They are they ones making 1000X times more money than most Americans. A very large percentage of the Albanian Americans are mixed with the Albanian Mafia. The ones that are not, as a culture are nomads that are more aware of the politics of other countries than the citizens of that country know themselves.
No, Americans are lost.......most are more involved in their daily life, money, family, friends, super bowl, Being a silly Democrat or a hard corp Republican. They have the best of intentions, but no idea of world politics. This is not an time for ego or nationalistic gung ho, its a time of being realistic.
So, in response to your point, no, most Kosovars are more knowlegable than the average American. Using the key word......that is characteric of the forum culture...."Freeper", which is what I assume means a person that visits this site. Free Republic + Freeper, I assume.
I've been overseas the past 10 years. Yes, I will sell my American fellow citizens very very short on their lack of knowledge and caring about world politics, absolutely. They have no idea of the hoax of the Balkans that the Clinton administration weaved to justify the entrace into the Balkans. It was a total hoax and fabrication that 90% of Americans have no idea about. This is a fact......It's not their fault as they (Americans) live a protected life behind an awesome military might........I was in the Marines 12 years. I believe in war to protect our freedom. That freedom comes a price for protected......a separation to the ugly part of reality.
Most Kosovars know more about world events and geography than the average American can even begin to know.........a fact.
:) by the way, the last post was written in a hurry and apparently one cannot correct mistakes on here.......it's late....
Tom
Europeans are generally more knowledgeable in the area of geography.
