So which is which? Are our enemies the Shia, the Sunnis, or both, or neither? These are the warring tribes that today blew up one ancient mosque, which resulted in armed attacks upon 60 other mosques. You imply that our war on terror is a war on just one of these sects.

It's pretty straightforward. They hate us so badly, they'll kill anyone who has anything to do with us, or anyone who doesn't kill us as quickly as they would--given the chance. Their supreme Ayatollahs have scolded them for this, and they are always working to unify their hatred in one direction--towards us.

The question that cinches it is this: there is no Muslim majority country that allows religious or political freedom for the minority. We are fighting for a lost cause if we believe we can allow Islam to stand side by side, on an equal footing, with democracy. It can't be done.
