I'm with Michelle on this one.

In addition I think all imported containers world wide must be shipped by U.S. companies and instead of inspecting 2% of the millions of containers that come here, up that to 90%.

We don't need no foreign companies here.

BTW ... Someone should tell Sen. Hillary Clinton, New York Democrat, of the "Our port security is too important to place in the hands of foreign governments." fame that Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co., the firm that is now running the ports, is London based.

How are we to be certain that the British government isn't behind them?

Listen to Sen. Evan Bayh, Indiana Democrat: "I think we've got to look into this company. I think we've got to ensure ourselves that the American people's national-security interests are going to be protected. And frankly, I think the threshold ought to be a little higher for a foreign firm."
Like the higher threshold you insisted on when the British firm got the contract during the clinton administration?
And Sen. Barbara Boxer, California Democrat: "It is ridiculous to say you're taking secret steps to make sure that it's OK for a nation that had ties to 9/11, (to) take over part of our port operations in many of our largest ports. This has to stop."
But you are opposed to increasing scrutiny of visa applications for people wanting to come here from other arab countries to attend flight schools?
And Sen. Hillary Clinton, New York Democrat: "Our port security is too important to place in the hands of foreign governments. I will be working with [New Jersey] Senator [Robert] Menendez to introduce legislation that will prohibit the sale of ports to foreign governments."
Well, isn't that special? It's also a bunch of dishonest posturing. Port security isn't being turned over to foreign governments. Port security will continue to be run by our port authorities and the national guard. As for prohibiting the sale of ports to foreign governments, what does that have to do with anything. None of our ports are being sold to anybody, let alone foreign governments. If you introduce a bill as you have described, your little bill will do absolutely nothing to the deal in question.
And Sen. Charles Schumer, New York Democrat, who said the Dubai company's involvement "is enough to raise a flag -- at least to do a thorough review, at minimum."
What kind of review are you advocating here Chuck? Secret wiretaps or something? What if the more thorough review finds no reason to block the sale? What then?

This is hilarious. If you go over to the DUers site they all sound like racist pigs trying to justify blocking the port deal.

This is getting good.

Kumbaya anyone? Bahahahaha!!
