So, they will still have to go through the security of the coast guard and immigration. I fail to see how this is anything other than a knee jerk reaction.
The same company runs the ports at the other ends of the shipping chains. That is where the smuggling would start out not at the port of entry. There is no way to avoid the inspection, if it's actually preformed and no way to evade the radiation detectors.
UAE was one of the first to sign on to container security.
I doubt any want to see their investment go up in smoke.
