You are correct. Trenton: 1776, Valley Forge: 1777

Actually I was thinking more of Jeff Daniels and his excellent portrayal of George Washington in A&E Networks The Crossing.

I dont understand. Washington had a life mask done. So why all the effort to show what he looked like when you have the nearest thing to a photograph right here.
To: Albion Wilde
I always thought Daniels was a dead ringer for this fellow.

You mean Joshua Chamberlain? I think so too. In fact, that was Jeff Daniel's best role, IMO.
To: wayoverthehill
Agreed. He did an outstanding job in that role.
One of the few things that Ted Turner did right was making that movie.

Hey, it was the least I could do. After all, that woman restored dignity to the name, "Monica." well...
maybe a little trashy... but in a nice way.
Still can't figure why this picture popped up when I googled "Monica bellucci, though:

That life mask makes him look like the pederast actor who played the teacher in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
To: VanDeKoik
It sounds like they were trying to guess what he looked like when he was a very young man, long before he'd had a life mask or any portrait done.
To: dangus
the guy looks like and Italian Howard Stern. Monica looks well................

LOL. good one. this gets me. why is it "historians" can never take existing evidence at face value but keep trying to answer questions to which the answers are already so painfully obvious? I guess all those paintings of George don't count for much.
