Bin Laden Vows Never to Be Captured Alive AP - 44 minutes ago
CAIRO, Egypt - Osama bin Laden vowed never to be captured alive and said the U.S. military had become as "barbaric" as Saddam Hussein in an audiotape reposted on a militant Islamic Web site after first being broadcast last month.
In the tape posted to the Web site Monday, bin Laden offered the United States a long-term truce but also said his al-Qaida terror network would soon launch a fresh attack on American soil. The tape was initially broadcast Jan. 19 on Al-Jazeera, the pan-Arab satellite channel.

Sounds like a hollow boast from someone who claims to be winning the war. Oh, wait a minute, this was the guy on the video a couple of months ago who said, "OK, we're gonna give you guys a truce...please."

We did not ask for this war but since we were attacked we need to be dedicated to victory. Victory includes the end of OBL be he alive or dead. Once the mission is accomplished we can return to "civility". Until then Remember 9-11!

I am quite sure OBL has been dead for YEARS. I am mystified as to why the only words we hear from the government every time an OBL statement is released is to confirm that it very probably IS him and he very probably IS alive.....somewhere. If he were alive, there is NO reason he wouldn't show his face on a videotape the way he did in 2001-2. EVENTUALLY we will find out WHEN he died , and it will turn out TO HAVE BEEN sometime soon after the last videotaped statement we were privy to. EVen if he was so sick and physically compromised for the last few years that he didn't want to appear in a weakened state on film, I am sure some Islamic makeup artist/special effects expert would have come forward to offer his or her services. If I were in charge of this, I would issue a statement like the following. " OBL, if you are alive , show your face, not just your voice. Show us yourself on film, with PROOF that it is YOU, and not a LOOKALIKE, and give us proof as to WHEN the footage was shot, by holding a newspaper, say, the New York Times, bearing the date the film was shot. Refer to a current event SPECIFICALLY, but above all, SHOW YOUR FACE AND FORM the way you did before."
That works.
"Dead" works for me too. If he would be captured alive, we would be going through the same delaying tactics that Saddam is putting Iraq through now. As far as I am concerned, these terrorists don't have a right to a trial. Just finish them on the battlefield and give us all some peace.
I didn't know that OBL in fact DID NOT have kidney problems/dialysis treatment. I DO think I will take Richard Miniter's word for it, since everything he says seems credible to me. HOWEVER, that does not prove that OBL is still alive. Far more persuasive is the fact that he hasn't shown his face for quite a long time now, but keeps compulsively issuing nose-thumbing statements periodically, as if fearing that we will forget about him, and stop fearing HIM and "al-Qaeda".
Males, maybe...men, never.
