Making Islam illegal -- is it the West's only choice?

Making Islam "illegal" is unworkable and an affront to western ideals.

We do, however, need to eradicate aggressive Islam and aggressive Islamists and that may be a very many people.

Whoever's left will be convinced that the submission of Islam means submission to the West.

Of course not. This is the US not communist Russia. Stalin outlawed religion, we cannot ban Islam without taking our Constitution and wiping our a$$ with it. At a deeper level, the question still remains..."what do you do with a religion that (in and of itself) inherently violates and teaches it adherents to violate the 1st Amendment to the Constitution.

We can't lose sight of the fact that most Muslims DO NOT endorse terrorism, and are in fact very much against it. Right now it doesn't seem as if there are any vocal, moderate Muslims, but all that I know personally are very pro-America. We need to find out why and help them fix the silence while we track the murdering, sadistic thugs who kill in their name.

We can't ban a religion, we have to track and kill the crazies advocating violence in it's name. The rule of law REQUIRES the free practice of religion in this country, that cannot be changed without undoing most of what this country stands for.

The first problem with the west is we designated it a religion, when it is actually a form of government called a Theocracy. If we had called a theocratic regime from the start, IMHO the battle would have been much further along and the enemy clearly identified.

Right now we're playing catchup with a government masquerading as a religion. We are in a very dangerous position as we begin to turn on this dime, the sects that have infiltrated our free world will come out of the woodwork and into the light of day.

Making Islam illegal is Un-Constitutional, and just a bad idea.

However -- U.S. Immigration policy could bar any new entrants from Islamic countries, helping to slow its growth and provide security. In addition -- a sustained U.S. plan to repopulate itself by encouraging births through tax incentives and other perks would also go a long way to providing our own security -- both economically and ideologically.

Now that I think about it, this article seems semi-pointless to me.

We know that extreme Islam is a threat. However, the acts of savagery those people commit in response to cartoons are already illegal; torching buildings and killing people are not legal activities. Why do we need more laws or ideals or principles? We don't. We need resolve. We need to be able to wage war against terrorists without caving in to accusations of suppressing someone's religion. It's not about law, we've got plenty of that. It's about the willingness to win the war. We're not out to get Islam; we're out to get people who torch buildings, commit terrorist acts, and kill people, for whatever reason.
