Respect religions, says Saudi king

RIYADH: King Abdullah on Saturday called for mutual respect among all religions and beliefs and condemned what he called “the clash of civilisations.” Speaking during a cultural festival in Riyadh, he said, “I call for the next stage in relations between countries to be a stage of real dialogue where each side respects the other side,” he was quoted as saying. ap

"Respect for religions means allowing them in your country."

He's Muslim. "Respect religions" means "Respect my religion."

Maybe he could start with something simple--like not requiring women who know and care nothing about his cult to dress like they do when they're in his desert wasteland.

'When there are churches in Medina' -- yes, and don't forget when it goes BOTH WAYS. IE, no chopping of heads if you don't like Christians. deal??

Well, your kingshipfulness, the second you lead the way and start respecting real religions, we'll consider reigning in our contempt for your demon worshiping death cult.

Until then STFU, your hypocrisy is sickening.

What occurs to me, is that it is Western culture that is supposed to accomodate the Moslems. The Moslems are not expected to accomodate anyone else.

It's the old Palestinian canard all over again. "What are you willing to give up for peace?" Note, it's never asked, what should we give up to get peace, or here we're willing to give this up for peace. No, the Arab NEVER gives up something. NEVER.

In 1948, the Jews and the Arabs could not live in peace. The land was in tragic disarray. The U.N. stepped in to separate the two sides, and the Palestinians have never accepted it.

The Moslems are the same way. In 2400, we'll still be facing demands by the Moslems for Christian ways to be silenced. They will NEVER give up on that issue.

Either we face it now, or we'll face it for the next two hundred years, and undoubtedly more. Let the Moslems live in their Middle-Eastern lands, and let the Christians live in their lands.

Folks, it's oil and water. It will NEVER mix.

Respect religions, says Saudi king

Interpretation: Bow down and kiss muslim butt and accept the humiliation and degradation of your dhimmi status, and pay us the jizya, and we, in turn, will respect your right to practice your infidel religions, sometimes -- other times, not, and we will slaughter you and your children instead. But, hey, at least we'll all enjoy the benefits of mutual respect.

I don't think we can afford to do that anymore, either, because they'll just get busy working on nukes and icbms and other ways to exterminate us en masse. I think this one may be the final confrontation, and it's us or them.

I have no objection to that view. I recognize it's validity. Still, what is now taking place is not acceptable either.

We either grown a backbone and start dictating, or learn to take dictation.

I am still counting down. Five weeks to go. There are contrary signals now and then, but things appear to be continuing to the end of March deadline anyway. If it doesn't happen, so much the better, but it's a good time to check and update the Y2K stash.

"Abdullah is not the real problem. He is relatively enlightened, but much of the kingdom he rules over is not."

Wow! Somebody else on this forum gets it about Saudi Arabia. I had given up trying to explain it. Good luck to you my friend.

A quick summary of religious tolerance in Saudi Arabia from a two-year sojourn there:

Prosyletizing for a religion other than Islam is a capital crime
No Bibles nor any type of Christian symbology allowed
No religious services other than Islamic ones allowed
No non-Muslims allowed to visit the cities of Mecca or Medina. No exceptions.
Mandatory prayer services for all Muslims five times daily
Mandatory closings of all businesses during said prayer times

Please feel free to add to this list....

"Respect religions"

Just as long as the "religions" are Islam.

Sorry, Saudi King Our-Oil-For-US-Money. Ain't gonna happen.

Your country gave us 15 of the 19 9/11 mass-murderers.

I'll show respect for any "religion" except yours.

The King is speaking to his fellow moslems mainly. It's a positive step if any of them are listening, which 2/3 are not.

Muslims have always respected other religions. As long as everyone converts to Islam, other religions can be respected. A purely academic exercise.
