Any Rabbi in France or England will recite the line and verse describing a story that reinforces that sustaining of life is the most important mitzah, dietary law falls to the side. (You can make the argument that in a 1st world society like France, one should never be at the point where a homeless person has to make the decision between sustenance and dietary law). But we're talking about homeless Jewish French citizens...
