Major political contributors to George W. Bush who have never given a dime to prospective 2008 Republican presidential candidate John McCain received letters, dated Feb. 8, asking for donations to the senator's Straight Talk America political action committee.
Obviously using President Bush's direct mail list, the letter signed by McCain asks for $1,000 or $1,500 to support candidates agreeing with McCain on "key issues." It specifically lists "limiting federal spending, immigration reform, military readiness, global climate change, Social Security reform, reining-in lobbyists, reducing the power of the special interests and putting an end to wasteful pork barrel spending by Congress."
Each recipient received a card to be filled in for McCain's files. "I'm asking you to update your file card," requests the letter, though the Bush contributors had no previous card in the senator's files.
I wouldn't give him the sweat off my behind.
I agree with you. McCain's not a conservative. Fact.
It's interesting to listen to people claim certain people are President Bush's as if they work or are in his employ at this time. Lots of political consultants and campaign mangers are nothing more than guns for hire to the highest bidder. Sometimes one comes along like Rove and gets hooked up and stays for years. But in the main most are only promoting their own employment or consulting firm.
On a side note didn't McCain come close in 00 had it not been for the SC Primary?
I received something from McCain...it made me so angry that I put it aside with the intention of returning it with a letter asking to be removed from his mailing list. I threw it away last week though after I decided it wasn't worth the effort to respond.
Considering the fact that it passed Congress by an overwhelming veto proof majority, signing it made no difference.
Something tells me you have never donated anything to Republicans since the 1992 primary.
This is simple stuff. Bush signed McCain's torture bill because he agreed with it. In fact, Bush negotiated directly with McCain to assure its passage through Congress. It's a law that weakens the US military and gives resolve to the terrorists. IMO, one of the few serious mistakes Bush has made in the WOT.
The quid pro quo has been revealed.
On a side note didn't McCain come close in 00 had it not been for the SC Primary?
He only did well in states where the dimwits crossed party lines in order to get two dimwits in the general election.
And you would be wrong. But then that's really nothing new for you, is it...
