Chad Hedrick leads the 1000 with about half the field left to skate.

It looks over; we won but it's a pity that Shani Davis was the person who won. I was looking forward to him falling on his butt.

NBC's coverage blows chunks. I'm tired of having to wait 12 hours to watch something that should have been seen live in all of the continential USA

NBC's coverage blows chunks.

I had to laugh yesterday. USA Network has carried curling for a week. Curling morning, curling afternoon, curling evening. Men's curling. Women's curling.

Yesterday, in the USA women's curling, we watch USA Network broadcast through End 1 and 2 and 3 and 4, etc., through the 8th to 9th End. One more to go to the final, score tied, 10th 'end'.

What happens? USANetwork coverage cut away. Instead of showing the final, scored tied, 10th 'end', they chose to cover the start to USA women vs. Sweden women hockey.

After a week of curling, they cut away to the start of a hockey game.

USA women curlers lost by 1. USA women hockey lost to Sweden by 1. They never even showed video of the final moments of the curling; they just made a comment about the final score.

===

Another part that gripes me is the evening broadcast. Costas runs his mouth, then he starts talking about some athlete. I am usually on the computer, too, or swapping channels, rather than listening to him. Then we see athletes getting medals. No video, so we don't know (unless we were listening to Costas run his mouth) what event the medal was for. They don't even show the action that led up to the win.

But Costas did show the US snowboard girl, hotdogging and then falling. Costas shows that over and over and over.

Got a good look at the American goalie's helmet in HD - one side looked like something about 9/11 (not sure), but the other side clearly had a POW/MIA flag, and the Vietnam Veterans' memorial with a Huey flying across the background. Anybody have any info on him?

For once, the refs aren't calling penalties every two minutes in this game.

I was most intrigued by the Mexican flag he's got on his throat guard.

Probably because there's an NHL ref in the game. Don't worry though, this is going to be the exception. Doc Emerick mentioned Keith Tkachuk was penalized in an earlier game for "hitting too hard".

IMO, this Olympic/Euro-style hockey is boring. Come to think of it, it looks suspiciously like Bettman's "MY NHL". A game full of no hitting and power plays, and this is supposed to be more exciting?...yawn.

USA Men are curling this morning

Isn't curling roughly equivalent to water ballet in the Summer Olympics? Or is shuffleboard, or horseshoes, a Summer Olympic sport? That would be it's Sumer match.
