The Shooting Party (Tony Blankley nails elite media snobs!)
RealClearPolitics ^ | 2/15/06 | Tont Blankley

Posted on 02/15/2006 5:18:34 AM PST by teddyballgame

But the Washington press corp, and particularly the White House press corp, has developed, as an institution, a grossly dilated view of itself. Most of us can tolerate arrogance if it is accompanied by extraordinary capacity and virtuosity. The brilliant scientist, the war-winning general, the great artists are entitled to their pride.

But the hallmark of the Washington Press corp these days is mediocrity, groupthink, a lack of curiosity and rampant careerism. These attributes were all on show in the shooting party incident. But this is just a trivial incident -- except for the poor, shot gentleman who suffered a heart attack, may he recover fully and quickly.

It's really too bad that Tony Blankley is unable to be more to the point!

This is the best column on this whole subject to date. Media Bubble alert! This showcases the chasm between the American People and the media. And they wonder why their approval ratings are so low?!

The White House Press Corp is definitely a biased institution and continues to try to find ways to attack this administration.....the White House Press Corp and their hissy fits say much more about them than the actual story.

The press can shove it. They gave Cling-on a pass for his Flat Out Lie.

I never watch them anyway.

The hypocrisy at play here is totally beyond belief ~ particularly amongst those screaming the loudest!

It's just all further evidence that the cRATS and the MSM really DO believe that the American public, on the whole, is profoundly stupid!

"the hallmark of the Washington Press corp these days is mediocrity, groupthink, a lack of curiosity and rampant careerism."

And frank dishonesty. These traits were paraded before the world in the electrifying presentation Matt Drudge gave before them.

Until then, I considered the Washington Press Corps to be reliable and was very skeptical about Matt Drudge.

During that lengthy spectacle, Drudge's intelligence and intellectual honesty contrasted stunningly with the dishonesty, mediocrity, groupthink, lack of curiosity, rampant careerism, and shallow pretensions of the Press Corps.

Since then, though my mind remains open, nothing has occurred to cause me to change this conclusion. In fact, it has been constantly reconvirmed.

The press is more worked up over this minor shooting accident than they ever were over the 90+ people who were killed in Waco, Texas during the Clinton administration.

dishonesty, bias, incompetence, laziness, and inflated egos -- a bad mixture for the Whitehouse Press (and MSM).

"The press can shove it."

Except that the MSM has actual become criminal in its conduct!

These people are players in what I think can rightly be called a form of "Information Warfare" and they are engaging in direct attacks on this nation which far more insidious and far more dangerous to us as a nation than are the attacks of the players in the War on Terror!

These "Guardians of the peoples right to know" are not merely complaisant in on-going assaults on the presidency of George W. Bush, they are, in fact, active participants!

They aggressively propagate malicious falsehoods and knowingly lie by omission, they willfully disseminate misinformation and disinformation and they go out of their way to facilitate and legitimize every entity's (including every radical lunatic's) Bush-hating promulgations.

Consider the following Joseph Pulitzer quote which appears on an inscribed plaque visible to all upon enter the halls of the Columbia School of Journalism:

This bears repeating:

We are, without doubt, in grave danger from enemies within
and we ignore it at our own peril!

It is not bias, it is outright political campaigning.

These "news" orgs are liberal political organizations, who hire political hack operatives, and pose them as journalists.

And they have been writing the script, setting the tone, and the terms of engagement for 30 years.

It is war, and we have only just begun to fight.

I checked the bylaws of the White House press corp, and they are right. It seems that the bylaws refer to Article XXIII of the U.S. Constitution, which expressly designates that White House reporters with a minimum annual income of $375,000 (plus minimum stock options equal to not less than two-thirds their yearly salary, plus use of driver and long sedan during business hours, of which hours must include post-deadline dinner engagements of a semi-social nature) are the exclusive recipients of all government information. If information isn't hand-delivered in gilt-edged paper to them while they are reclined on their chaise lounges, it hasn't been released to the public. And if they don't report a fact, it hasn't happened. This provision is vital to a vigorous and independent free press. [I should note, my copy of the Constitution must be outdated, because it doesn't have an Article XXIII.] Of course, this provision technically makes the White House press corp not reporters, but receivers -- sort of glorified shipping clerks, but with the prerogative to re-write and re-package the material before they deliver it to the public. When an out-of-town newspaper got the scoop, the dignity of the White House press corp had been impeached, so they threw a public temper tantrum. As that has worked for many of them since their early childhood, they obviously expect it to work while on the job -- to use the term loosely. Ouch! That'll leave a mark!

Defintely revealing behavior - ala - he/she 'doth protest too much'. They are our enemy; but they are their own worst enemy. . .

. . .they act as if the 'old order' was still in place. . .and that their audience, over all. . .depends on the MSM for their version of the 'truth of the matter'. And while it may play the same in 'Peoria' - so to speak and no offence; (maybe I should say. . .'Rio Linda' ;^). . .by and large. . .it is just not so; anymore.
