I've always thought the safety razor was cool.

But for those of us who use the sisszy man Mach 3s like me, a hint: shave in the shower. I never use shaving cream and never cut myself. A warm hot shower makes me invincible!

"...shave in the shower. "

But don't leave the razor in the shower. As soon as the wife figures out that your "face razor" is sharper than her "leg razor", guess what your razor gets used on. Nothing quite like unexpectedly hitting your face with a razor that just got done hacking through the hair on a woman's legs.

And once you've accidentally trained her to use your razor instead of hers, it's all over.

just traded in the Mach3 for the Fusion(non battery) and trust me that the two extra blades are GREAT... a heavier head and a smoother slide and a much closer shave. I soak the beard in the shower and shave with a shower mirror under the hot water, and with a heavy beard, the Fusion is definitely an advance. Hate to pay more than $2 a replacement blade, but I make them last weeks and it takes me fewer strokes and less time with the new Fusion than before. Now I'll search eBay for cheaper refills... but with the reduced coupons, Costco has razor and 6 refills for $18.

Well as much as I respect the saftey razor... and the barber straight edge, I can tell you... nothing compares to a Mach 3.

I am not replacing it with a Sensor 4 blade or the new 5 blade nonsense.

Honestly I would not have ever bought the Mach 3, but got one as a free sample back when Gillette first introduced them... and all it took was 1 swipe down the cheek to know THIS was not like anything else out there.

I always shave directly after showering, hair is nice and moist... Can shave off a month's worth of stubble with a few strokes this way, and no irritation. I use Gel instead of cream.. used to dry shave, but no more... I'll give em a few bucks to save me some irritation... plus it doubles as cologne.
