"...a secretive government committee has decided to turn over the management of six of the Nation's most important ports — in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Miami, Baltimore and New Orleans — to Dubai Ports World..."

I would say "secretive government committee" is the key here. It's there to provide CYA protection for the higher level Washington crapweasels concerned about being outed close to election time.

The American people will have questions. Lots of questions.

"So I'm sure there are no "dirty" business connections to terrorists for this simple transaction to allow a UAE Company that has bought out another company to oversee "business operations" over 6 East Coast ports..."

Right...doesn't smell at all.

The Committee CFIUS is (at this time) comprised of Bush Appointed persons. The committe is not secret. The REVIEWS are secretive or confidential in nature because the companies involved do not want all of their information given to congress and the public. Therefore, this committee has closed door meetings reviewings the involved companies. If there is a problem, then it moves on to the President for review.

"If there is a problem, then it moves on to the President for review."

You can probably drop the "If". Rest assured Bush is into this one. Like illegal aliens and border security, the White House is tone deaf.
