Objectivity? Reporter Dana Milbank Wears a Hunter's Outfit For MSNBC Interview
Newsbusters.org ^ | 13 February 2006 | Dave Pierre

Posted on 02/13/2006 7:33:47 PM PST by infoguy

On tonight's Countdown With Keith Olbermann on MSNBC (Monday, February 13, 2006), Washington Post reporter Dana Milbank appeared for an interview wearing a bright-orange hunter's vest and hat. Michelle Malkin has the photo and video.

How on earth is anyone supposed to believe that the Washington Post can maintain any objectivity on the Cheney hunting story when one of their most veteran and prominent reporters shows up for an interview dressed like this?

Think back to 1998. Imagine a female newspaper reporter (not an opinion columnist, but a reporter, mind you) showing up for a television interview dressed in a beret and looking like Monica Lewinsky. Or a male columnist wearing a Clinton wig and holding a cigar. It never would have happened, because these people would have lost their jobs. Their employer's credibility would have been shot.

It's astonishing: It appears Milbank wasn't even trying to hide his bias!

HT: Michelle Malkin.

a Stop/Slow sign

Yes, the sign a Penn Dot foreman carries to direct his workers.

I agree. That's the most disgusting part. The most idiotic part of this whole story is the media hoping for a Congressional investigation, and resignation of the VP.

On Scarborough Country tonight I saw a playback of the W. H. press conference today. Some idiot female reporter actually asked "Would it have been worse if the injured man died?" What a maroon!!!! She also asked "is V.P. Cheney going to resign?" At that point Scott McClellan grinned and said that was an absurd question, then he moved on to some other numbskull reporter.

Ignorant and malicious fools....all of them, and they're making themselves the story.

Absolutely. To me it seems, this whole accident is much ado about nothing.

How about a wet suit for an interview with Kennedy?

This man should be fired.

If I was his editor, I would can his ass so fast he would not know what hit him.

I don't care WHO you are making fun of, you don't do that as a journalist. You don't. You report the story.

That is just disgusting.

They're quite emboldened to pull this ugly stunt.

I wish they'd FOAD.

Wow. I just figured out the MSM's " I feel so left out" tantrum on this whole accident. It further illustrates how irrelevant they've become, and they don't like it one bit.

Do note the one comment some in the media keep saying

Why didn't the VP let us (the media) know about this

It's all about THEM

And with Milbank dressing up and making a fool of himself proves .. It's all about THEM

It was classic! Alan Simpson, though he was in a studio in Wyoming, had that look on his face like "Chris, you don't know what the hell your talking about". Matthews goes to a break and says "We'll talk more with the expert in quail hunting after this", and I laughed harder. I think Matthews was glad he had a hard commercial break. It was like the bell to end the round in boxing. Matthews was on the ropes the whole time.

Yeah. The media is angry that they were left out of the loop. Selfish bass turds.

It is a sickening spectacle, I agree. They've been emboldened since 2001, in hopes that something would stick to the wall, and they'd run with it as some scandal, to bring down this White House with.

My husband is a hunter .. and though yes I do make fun of his hunting outfit at times ... it's my job as a good wife :0)

Time for the obligatory sexist hunting joke. :-)

A man had been going hunting for a number of years, and his wife had wondered what it was all about.

She nagged and pestered, him, but he always put it off because "it was too dangerous."

Finally she talked him into it, but only under conditions...

He made her carry a police whistle and promise that she would not go more than 100 feet from him during the hunt, so he could keep an eye on her. And if she had any doubts at all, about ANYTHING, she was to blow the whistle and he'd be right there.

As luck would have it, shortly after lunch, he had to go to the bathroom, and went into a stand of trees. He told her to stay EXACTLY WHERE SHE WAS.

Sure enough, as soon as he got out of sight, there was the whistle. He quickly finished and ran over to her.

She was holding the gun on another man, who was on the ground in front of her with his hands in the air!

And he was saying:

"OK, OK, lady, it's your deer. It's YOUR DEER. Just wait till I get my saddle off of it first."

Full Disclosure: I wouldn't know a 12-gauge from a flamethrower. (Although I'm probably letting myself in for the FR equivalent of both...)

Cheers!

I emailed this to the Posts ombudsman.

I was shocked to see Dana Milbanks getup on MSNBC. Shame on you. The lack of respect and open bias shows how morally bankrupt the press has become.

If I had been the WH Press Secretary, I would have turned the tables around and asked her "What do you think the answer is?", barring that, I would have told her to shut her ignorant piehole. But, I guess that's why I'm not the WH Press Secretary.

:)
