Let the record show that it took the MSM less than a day to float the possibility that Dick Cheney intentionally shot Harry Whittington.
And who better to surmise that the Vice-President might have been trying to bump off his buddy than Ron Reagan, that primetime speaker at the Kerry convention who moonlights as an MSNBC "political analyst"?
Reagan appeared on tonight's Hardball with Chris Matthews, and in decrying the fact that the Secret Service apparently denied local law enforcement immediate access to Cheney, said the following:
"Law enforcement is entitled to investigate this case, to find out what happened, to find out if he had anything against Mr. Whittington, and to find out - again I don't mean to suggest anything - to find out if anyone had been drinking . . ."
Matthews, seemingly shocked but unable to contain a wide smile, broke in:
"You just did [suggest something]. Are you crazy? You just threw that out there. There's no reason to believe this is anything but an accident and you know it."
After suggesting it might have been anything but an accident, Reagan contradicted himself while trying to change the subject:
"I'm not suggesting it wasn't an accident but I'm saying one of the first questions the police would ask anybody is if there had been any drinking going on."
Matthews' other guest, notorious Bush antagonist Patrick Buchanan, was only too happy to pour inflammable liquid on the fire:
"Why didn't Cheney invite the sheriff in so the sheriff could find out what happened?"
So there it is. Approximately 13 hours after the story broke on national news, a paid MSM analyst has suggested that the Vice-President of the United States might have intentionally shot an innocent man.
When you shoot somebody in the chest - head-on, you have something against them. And you don't bother to just do it with bird shot in a .410 shotgun.
I heard Rove held up quail feathers behind Whittington's hat. And shook them...
It was the same show.
Here is the timeline:
5:50 p.m. CST - shooting
6:30 p.m. CST - Cheney's ambulance removes Whittington from the field.
***Note it is at least a 20 minute ride back to the main ranch -- only then do they get on the way to the local hospital.
Whittington taken to local hospital, examined, treated.
Whittington helicoptered to Corpus Christi Hospital.
7:30 p.m. CST -- White House notified and Andy Card calls Bush.
8:00 p.m. CST or there about -- Rove calls Bush to tell him Cheney is involved.
***Cheney goes to the hospital with Whittington.
Sunday morning, 8:00 a.m. CST -- Cheney meets with sheriff.
8:00 a.m. -- Armstrong begins trying to contact Reporter Powell, finally gives up and gives the story to reporter at 11:00 a.m. CST
Paper immediately puts the story up because Garcia (reporter) says that they called the White House to confirm before they put the story up.
She was patched through to Cheney's spokesperson McBride.
She said that as soon as they put the story on their web site they began receiving calls from all over the country -- so why did it take the MSM until 3 EST to get the story?
HARDBALL.........
The funniest show on TV since Seinfeld!

News Fairly Unbalanced. We Report. You Decipher.
(2006-02-13) White House spokesman Scott McClellan, peppered with reporters questions about Vice President Dick Cheneys accidental weekend shooting of a hunting buddy, said President George Bush was not immediately informed of the incident because he was too distracted by the Iraq war.
If, because of the war, the president doesnt have time to catch Usama bin Laden, Mr. McClellan said, when do you think hell find a moment to deal with a quail hunting accident in Texas?
In related news, Mr. McClellan said the Bush administration is sticking with its initial single-shooter theory.
From all indications, he said, the vice president acted alone. Lab reports show that all of the pellets came from a single 28-gauge shotgun which had the Vice Presidents fingerprints all over it.
Despite these assurances, the White House press corps buzzed with conspiracy rumors, including suggestions that the quail, which Mr. Cheney allegedly shot at, had not flown in a completely random, natural pattern, but seemed to intentionally pass in front of 78-year-old attorney Harry Whittington.
Is there any question W has driven the libs and old media absolutely, certifiably crazy?
Good Lord almighty...it's no wonder they had to adopt Michael Reagan!
Nope......ain't life grand?
Pat Buchanan...aww Pat, are you confused? Cheney is Methodist, not Jewish. Pat should stop hanging around those diesel engines.
ROFLMAO..........I loved that game! I was REALLY good at that!
LOL, Okay, now someone has got to post the pics of Kerry holding a bird ... no wait, he made his friend hold the dead bird, right? ... when he was looking to appeal to the common man in Ohio in the last election.
IIRC, he told some Ohioans he had to "skedaddle" on out of there.
Hey... I've held dead birds and I (shifting into Native American mode) thanked them for their lives. There is nothing wrong with hunting, as long as people eat the food and make the most use of all of the animal that they are trained to do. If all they can do is eat it, so be it. And people should at least take a moment to thank the animal for surrendering its life, or to thank God for the diversity of life... I think people know what I'm saying.
I've never had the chance to skin an animal. And also, animals killed in the wild live a full life, in animal terms.
I know people who are anti-hunting, and yet buy packaged meat. I find that the height of hypocrisy.
Okay did I really get off topic from your original post, hole in one, or what?! LOL!
It's just that I wonder whether Kerry's turkey (and what a turkey it was... ;)...) that was used for a photo op was actually eaten. Probably le Monsieur decided there was too much buckshot in the wings to take the time to pick out (even though he has servants)--if he even took the time to look at the bird once the cameras were out of range.
Did Ron Reagan Jr joke that he wished that the lawyer had shot Cheney? It wouldn't surprise me at all. I'm sure leftist wackjobs all over the web are saying this already.
There was an article in the National Lampoon several years ago about the Secret Service kidnapping Ron Reagan and trying to force him to have sex with a woman so he wouldn't embarrass his dad anymore. It was hilarious. It depicted him fighting tooth and nail to avoid it, curling up in a corner and crying until he threw up.
What's so odd about Matthewes' show tonight is that just about 90 minutes before he show, he came on live with an MSNBC reporterette and said -- I kid you not -- that he was willing to take Cheney's word for what happened and that we shouldn't make such a big deal out of it.
Then I heard him at 4 o'clock like another Chris showed up.
Hmmmm wonder if Ted Kennedy had something against Mary Jo?
Everyone knows it's a turf battle between the Methodists and the Lutherans.
Next thing we're gonna hear is that Cheney might have mistaken Whittington for an illegal & shot him....
This story aint gonna die, yet.....
I didn't see the interview, so I'm holding out faint hope that Buchanan's remark was tongue-in-cheek, or some other tone or context not meant to be taken seriously -- but if he did join in on the tinfoil conspiracy theme around this non-incident, I'm ashamed to say I once was a staunch supporter and admirer of Buchanan's.
