Hybrids don't make sense on the bottom line. The retail cost is significantly higher than a straight gasoline model. Gas prices would have to soar to somewhere over $7/gallon to break even. When the vehicle is exhausted, you have an extra large, toxic battery to safely process. The final processing cost will probably be another big chunk of money out of the hybrid owner's pocket. Hybrids haven't been in service long enough for this onerous aspect to start getting any serious attention yet.
