Cheney gave Libby OK to rip foe: mag
....
But Libby will not contend in his defense that he was only following orders from Cheney and others, Libby's lawyers said yesterday.
"There is no truth at all to the story that Mr. Libby's lawyers have advised the Court or the Special Counsel that he will raise a defense based on authorization by superiors," Libby lawyer Bill Jeffress said in a statement.
....
your headline is not accurate.
My headline is accurate in that it reveals the truth ithin the article.
You work for the lib MSM?
all the lawyer is saying is that he did not tell the court or special counsel that they'd use a "following orders" defense. he's not saying such a defense will not be used. he's not saying it will be used either.
no lawyer in his right mind is going to telegraph his trial strategy a year in advance of the trial.
The Slimes and Washington Compost are a bunch of liars! The National Inquirer has more credibility than them. They've become the Ghetto of the Ghetto Press.
His headline is fine. It cuts out the old media spin.
It obliterates every false headline being regurigiated in the biased MSM.
The press release of Libby lawyer Bill Jeffress can not be found anywhere.
I wonder why?
Spread the truth.
Because the media is in the business of creating controversy and/or impinging on Bush, even FoxNews.
And fitsmas does both.
Lump of coal alert.
This trial is set for January 2007.
It may not even start then.
all the lawyer is saying is that he did not tell the court or special counsel that they'd use a "following orders" defense. he's not saying such a defense will not be used.
I agree. That's the only way to interpret the article.
You are lost.
The lawyer obliterated the FAKE NEWS story that Libby will defend himself by pointing fingers at Cheney.
The report contends that this exchange has already occured between the defense and the prosecutor.
That report is a LIE.
Levin has said this.
I am saying this.
Please do not Specter yourself.
So you don't even trust us freepers (we freepers?) to read and understand the article you've posted without rewriting the headlines for us.
I believe the general consensus around here is to leave headlines as they are, and editorialize in your comments.
It also helps prevent the same story from being posted multiple times.
But, not being a mod, what do I care?
Bill Jeffress is a friend of mine, fraternity brother, and all round good guy. He is a good lawyer and is not going to telegraph his strategy. I am watching this one with interest.
The reason for the lie being that the AP continues to try and spin the Libby indictment as having to do with Valerie Plame's covert status (on which Fitzgerald has still not made a determination). The charges against Libby do no deal with Plame's covert status, so whether or not Libby was acting on the President's or Vice-President's orders to disclose Plame's employment is irrelevant to his defense. Only if Libby was claiming that he was told to lie to the grand jury would it be relevant.
This story will never be posted in the context I gave it unless the headline is changed to reflect truth in the article.
The purpose is to highlight information for freepers.
I have done that from Day 1 here.
Time is money.
I like to speed up the info process.
It's Truth that I posted.
No apologies for that from myself ever.
First, let's look at what the lawyer said: "There is no truth at all to the story that Mr. Libby's lawyers have advised the Court or the Special Counsel that he will raise a defense based on authorization by superiors," Libby lawyer Bill Jeffress said in a statement.
Bill Jeffress *did* obliterate some fake news. He clearly denies a report that he told the court or special counsel about a defense strategy.
Did Jeffress deny he would use such a defense? NO! Jeffress merely said he didn't communicate such a defense to the court or SC.
