I have seen no evidence of Republicans turning funerals into bash-the-deceased amateur mike nights, whereas there is a lot of evidence that the Dems see funerals as "free shot at the republicans" events.
Basically, it is the difference between what Presidents Bush and even President Clinton did - they honored the lady being memorialized. Clinton did so more self-servingly, but he still talked about her without slinging mud at Dubya.
Coretta Scott King was, by all accounts, a gracious lady. It's a pity she could not have been remembered in a more gracious manner by her supposed firends/allies.
