It seems that the U.S.A. has a history of waiting until the horse is gone before securing the proverbial barn door. In some cases it´s simply expensive or inconvenient, but in some cases it is downright dangerous.
Although few on the left are willing to admit, it´s pretty well known that Bill Clinton had at least three chances to take bin Ladin into custody and refused. We all know that we brought Saddam to his knees during the first Gulf War and sailed away without finishing the job, necessitating the second Gulf War.
We all know that our Congress usually takes so long in passing meaningful legislation that by the time it becomes law it is, many times, toothless and obsolete.
But one of the most dangerous things happening in our nation right now is the situation at our southern borders. Everyday illegals cross the international border of Mexico with impunity. Our cities are inundated with unpapered, non-English speaking aliens.
I have no problem with honest people coming to this country seeking a better life for them and their families, but when they come in illegally I am dead set against it. We don´t even know they´re here and we have no way of knowing what kind of people they are.
Are they Islamic sympathizers bent on destroying us and our way of life? Are they violent gang members who hire out to do murder and mayhem? Are they drug traffickers, fugitives from the law, disease carriers or political malcontents?
The fact is that when they simply walk across our borders we have no way of knowing who or what they are. Is this not insanity?
It has been proven that most politicians have not got the guts to deal with the situation. It´s not a Democratic or Republican thing, nor a left or right thing, it´s simply a political hot potato that will continue to grow bigger and hotter until it eventually explodes in one way or another.
These illegals are straining the budgets of every border state and now some politicians want to give them what´s tantamount to having undocumented American citizenship, allowing them to participate in social programs and entitlements.
There is no way that this situation is ever going to resolve itself. This is a festering sore that becomes bigger and more infected every passing day and, at sometime in the future, will manifest itself in some catastrophic result in this nation. Whether it comes in the form of a nuclear attack or some contagious, out-of-control disease, when it hits I hope that people in this nation will remember how our state and federal politicians left us vulnerable and defenseless, all in the cause of trying to buy themselves a few more votes.
In my book they´re all culpable - the president, Congress, Senate, governors and legislatures. It´s way past time to shut the barn door.

The cost of such an agreement is highly uncertain. In March 2003, the Office of the Chief Actuary estimated that the cost of the Mexican agreement would be $78 million in the first year and would grow to $650 million (in constant 2002 dollars) in 2050. The actuarial cost estimate assumes the initial number of newly eligible Mexican beneficiaries is equivalent to the 50,000 beneficiaries living in Mexico today and would grow sixfold over time.
Just bilking the US Taxpayer out of the dollars "Americans Won't Miss!" (If you live in a gated Community and have accrued your wealth by exploiting Illegal Infiltrators, that is!)
Dane is in full "kill the messenger" mode today, as usual, the only message she's got. Is that a single bladed hatchet you use?
She's been asked many times, "what if they don't go home" and knows full well they won't, that's why she supports Kyl-Cronyn. You all know, Cronyn, the master mind of pushing through the No. American union with repeated legislation.
She knows they won't go home. The hundreds of thousands of central americans who came here "temporarily" after their floods, won't leave.
There are 3.6 million visa overstays, that can't be found.
There are 100,000 leftovers from the last amnesty that did not come forward by the deadline (probably in jail)
She knows they won't leave. That's the plan.
There's three big problems with what's going on with this Totalization agreement.
First, we don't know the exact terms of the agreement. The GAO report was only able to analyze the proposed agreement. The agreement signed hasn't been released to Congress, yet.
This is pretty scary because the terms of the proposal were awful. Based upon the full-court press the Bush administration and it's lickspittles are applying to gain acceptance for the so-called Guest Worker non-amnesty amnesty program, I would imagine that the actual terms of the are even more liberal in what they grant to the Mexican illegal aliens.
Second, we don't know what the actual costs will be because we don't yet know exactly how many illegals are currently working.
Third, under the terms of the agreement, the Mexican illegal alien can apply for and receive US SSA benefits for his Mexican national wife and Mexican national children, even if they've never been in the USA.
Talk about opening the door for Mexico to drain our SSA coffers!
What's to prevent the Mexican illegal alien from claiming his entire family (brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc) as his dependants. Or, from claiming his wife's family (brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, grandmothers, grandfathers, uncles, aunts, cousins, etc) as his dependants, too?!
Not our Social Security Administration. They already looked at the Mexican system and declared it to be sound. Yet, they provide no documentation that supports such a declaration. Instead, we're left to take them at their word.
Ri-ight... We're going to trust the Bush Administration to ensure that Mexico is being honest with us. Ri-ight...
But, under the terms of the agreement, the Mexican illegal alien can do this with impunity because the terms of the agreement say that his 'wife' and 'children' need not have to have ever been to the USA in order for the Mexican illegal alien to be allowed to collect US SSA benefits for them.
Huh??? I just pointed out the fact with my reply #98 that Charlie Daniels got his start by giving the equivalent of a monica to the hollyweird powers.
Sorry that you don't like them facts.
Actually we have bilateral threads going on here. My point is that the writer of the article of the thread, Charlie Daniels, is a hypocrite since he got his start by playing to hollyweird stereotypes, and he hasn't renounced any royalties from the song "Uneasy Rider".
JMO, I will trust good elected conservatives in the Senate such as Kyl/Cornyn rather than an entertainer, Charlie Daniels, who it seems got his start by doing a monica to hollyweird.
"That constant lying becomes morally irrelevant because under citizenism, the duty toward solidarity means that the old saying hes a son of a bitch but hes our son of a bitch turns into a moral precept."
Party over principle, a recipe for disaster.
No, your point was to try to plug the proposal by Kyl and Cornyn that will undermine our system by catering to Mexican illegal aliens.
This thread was just the vehicle of choice.
Can't attack the message, so instead attack the messenger.
How does the Kyl/Cornyn bill do to ensure that the guest workers go back to Mexico once their visas have expired?
When they refuse to go back, what then?
This thread was just the vehicle of choice.
Yuh know with your reply above, I am seriously thinking of putting some money into the company below.
There seems to be a never ending market for the above, IMO.
Can't attack the message, so instead attack the messenger.
What provisions does the Kyl/Cornyn proposal contain that will ensure that the so-called 'guest worker' will go back to Mexico once the terms of their visa have expired?
When they refuse to go back as they agreed to do, what then?
How will the terms of the visa be enforced?
Uh Charlie Daniels sold his soul back in 1972 to hollyweird with his song "Uneasy Rider" as posted back in reply #98 of this thread.
I didn't attack Charlie Daniels, he attacked himself.
Sorry that you don't like the facts about Charlie Daniels career.
Charlie Daniels Letter to the Hollywood Bunch
An Open Letter To The Hollywood Bunch
Ok, let's just say for a moment you bunch of pampered, overpaid, unrealistic children had your way and the U.S.A. didn't go into Iraq. Let's say that you really get your way and we destroy all our nuclear weapons and stick daisies in our gun barrels and sit around with some white wine and cheese and pat ourselves on the back, so proud of what we've done for world peace.
Let's say that we cut the military budget to just enough to keep the National Guard on hand to help out with floods and fires.
Let's say that we close down our military bases all over the world and bring the troops home, increase our foreign aid and drop all the trade sanctions against everybody.
I suppose that in your fantasy world this would create a utopian world where everybody would live in peace. After all, the great monster, the United States of America, the cause of all the world's trouble would have disbanded it's horrible military and certainly all the other countries of the world would follow suit. After all, they only arm themselves to defend their countries from the mean old U.S.A.
Why you bunch of pitiful, hypocritical, idiotic, spoiled mugwumps. get your head out of the sand and smell the Trade Towers burning. Do you think that a trip to Iraq by Sean Penn did anything but encourage a wanton murderer to think that the people of the U.S.A. didn't have the nerve or the guts to fight him? Barbara Streisand's fanatical and hateful rankings about George Bush make about as much sense as Michael Jackson hanging a baby over a railing.
You people need to get out of Hollywood once in a while and get out into the real world. You¹d be surprised at the hostility you would find out here.
Stop in at a truck stop and tell an overworked, long distance truck driver that you don¹t think Saddam Hussein is doing anything wrong. Tell a farmer with a couple of sons in the military that you think the United States has no right to defend itself.
Go down to Baxley, Georgia and hold an anti-war rally and see what the folks down there think about you. Please visit Clarksville, Tennessee and the 101st Airborne and talk that S****, please visit those Real American's. You people are some of the most disgusting examples of a waste of protoplasm I¹ve ever had the displeasure to hear about.
Sean Penn, you¹re a traitor to the United States of America. You gave aid and comfort to the enemy. How many American lives will your little, "fact finding trip" to Iraq cost? You encouraged Saddam to think that we didn't have the stomach for war. You people protect one of the most evil men on the face of this earth and won't lift a finger to save the life of an unborn baby.
Freedom of choice you say? Well I'm going to exercise some freedom of choice of my own. If I see any of your names on a marquee, I'm going to boycott the movie. I will completely stop going to movies if I have to. In most cases it certainly wouldn't be much of a loss.
You scoff at our military who's boots you're not even worthy to shine. They go to battle and risk their lives so ingrates like you can live in luxury.
The day of reckoning is coming when you will be faced with the undeniable truth that the war against Saddam Hussein is the war on terrorism. America is in imminent danger. You're either for her or against her. There is no middle ground. I think we all know where you stand.
I will stand with the soldiers, airmen, and sailors. The hard working men and women of this great country. Not the overpaid, pansy ass, Hollywood wimp wanna be's, and has beens, who can't hold a candle to real American's, the middle class blue collar workers.
What do you think? Boycott any Hollywood type that protest against the USA.
God Bless America"
Charlie Daniels
Like I said before, get back to me when Charlie Daniels renounces all royalties from his song that puts down the South but got his foot and his soul into hollyweird.
There was a similiar program under the Bracero plan. As I understand it, money was with held from their check for retirement. The US Gov't sent those funds to Mexico, and yet when the Mexicans who participated were ready to retire, the money was not available. I don't know if it was the equivalent of Mexico Social Security or what it was. I am foggy on the facts and hope someone else knows more about this. I did see an article recently that said the participants of the Bracero program want the US Gov't to pay their money back to them, but the US gave that money to Mexico.
Get back to me when Charlie Daniels renounces all royalties from his 1972 song "Uneasy Rider".
So in other words you're one of those folks that wish people wouldn't even talk about the immigration issue.
sw
Get back to me when Charlie Daniels renounces all royalties from "Uneasy Rider".
JMO, I will be waiting a very long time.
