08 February 2006, 11:00 Majority opinion needed on whether or not to bury Lenin - Putin

Moscow, February 8, Interfax - Any decision on whether or not to bury the body of Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin, currently housed in a mausoleum on Moscow's Red Square, should be guided by the sentiments of the majority of Russians, President Vladimir Putin said.

"I will seek decisions that have the support of the overwhelming majority of the citizens of our country and, I would like to emphasize this again, decisions that are conducive to conciliation and to national unification rather than to schism," Putin told the Spanish media.

"I believe that, just as the Spanish suffered during the civil war some time ago, the Russian population suffered in the same way or even more from internal strife and civil confrontation. Today we should do nothing that threatens a split and instead should make every move to achieve unification and conciliation," he said.

Putin, who said he had visited the grave of Spanish dictator Francisco Franco during a trip to Spain, argued it was wrong to equate communism with fascism. "Each ideology had its own notions of justice and its own problems. It seems to me that equating the two is completely incorrect," he said.

You'd never get that proposal past the Georgians - they still honor him by making his childhood home a shrine and call him the "Great Leader" -

Stalin? Didn't he get a mob to kill somebody while he was in prison after starting a false rumor?

During the interview with Spanish journalists (7 Feb 2006) Putin admitted that they created fake firm Bajkalfinansgrup to buy shares of Yuganskneftegaz (grabbed from Yukos) and resell it to state owned Rosneft. Everything was done to protect further suits against Rosneft.
Below translation via internet translator from the Russian website („Jezednevnyj Zurnal”, weekly).
http://www.ej.ru/dayTheme/entry/2980/

Let's distract for a short while from Vladimir Putin's conversation with Spanish journalists and we shall be transferred to the near future. We shall imagine a following picture: there is a judicial session. The judge (we shall assume,) says Kolesnikov: « Will invite in a hall of witness Putin Vladimir Vladimirovicha ». Putin enters. (we shall lower formalities with bringing the oath.) the lawyer of the claimant (we shall assume, Schmidt) asks Putin: « Tell, Vladimir Vladimirovich, you remember, how gave interview to the Spanish journalists before your visit to Spain in February, 2006? » « Yes, — Putin answers, — I remember ». « Here before me the stenogram of that interview, — Schmidt, — in it on a question continues, company " Bajkalfinansgrup " which subsequently has bought on auction of the action « Yuganskneftegaz » what for has been created, you have answered the following. I quote under the stenogram: « … that claims to those who has then got this property, have practically come to naught ». Whether correctly I have understood your answer, Vladimir Vladimirovich? You have admitted then, that company " Bajkalfinansgrup ", firm a something ephemeral, have been created with criminal intentions to hide from justice of true originators of capture of the another's property, to throw consequence off the scent and to deduce from under impact of the present purchaser of " Yuganskneftegaz » — state company " Rosneft ". That is you knew about a preparing crime and have not prevented it? Or you were the initiator of this swindle? »

It's time to bury all the Bolshevik symbols, including Lenin's embalmed body. If Dantean Hell exists, Lenin and Stalin belong to the 9th circle of Hell with Satan. They are responsible for the murder of tens of millions of people, and honoring them in any way has only poisonous effect on Russian society and prevents Russia from joining the civilized world.

The problem with using online translation programs, or relying on someone else's translation is they usually are incorrect. This section:

"Let's distract for a short while from Vladimir Putin's conversation with Spanish journalists and we shall be transferred to the near future. We shall imagine a following picture: there is a judicial session. The judge (we shall assume,) says Kolesnikov: « Will invite in a hall of witness Putin Vladimir Vladimirovicha ». Putin enters. That is you knew about a preparing crime and have not prevented it? Or you were the initiator of this swindle?"

Is actually a satrical peice - trying to predict what would happen if Putin was forced to testify in court (and honestly) about Yuganskneftegaz".

To state that Putin admitted to creating a fake firm "Baikalfinansgrup" is inaccurate and misleading. Also, if you post materials from ej.ru you have to provide a link to the story on their website, or they will sue you (it's in the fine print).

Having said that, if the Russian press isn't free, how does ej.ru survive? ;)

"Then just flush Lenin's ashes down the sewer.

Same thing for Stalin."

Not before Lenin's and Stalin's bodies are autopsied to ascertain how they really died.

OK, thanks for correction. But they still are referring to Putin’s interview in Spain, so he must say something about this case. Well, wherever he admitted it or not their version is highly possible.

Having said that, if the Russian press isn't free, how does ej.ru survive? ;)

What kind of weekly this is, only internet newspaper? If not how many people can read them, more than Moscow and St Petersburg?

I think if they were poisoned, the assassins would have preferred the bodies to be cremated immediately.

Has it been verified that these are the bodies of Lenin and Stalin and not just unfortunate look-alikes?

Ahh, more of that "banned" free press? Wow, for a country that "banned" its press there sure seems to be a lot of free press around criticizing Putin. How could that be? Oh that's right, when it's propaganda, agiprop, you can have it both ways.

"I think if they were poisoned, the assassins would have preferred the bodies to be cremated immediately."

If the assassins control the government and the health care system, they could embalm the body and cover up foul play. Regarding Stalin's death, Peter Deriabin's book says that Lavrenti Beria struck Stalin in the head with a blackjack.

Only when they are shooting at Americans(or Israelis).

Well, taking into consideration that Shenderovich is one of the commentators on the site, I'd say a good number of Russians read it. BTW, the internet is available virtually everywhere in Russia - just as in Poland, etc. Most have access to it at work. If they don't have home computers, they make use of internet cafes.

I've said this before - if you don't think the press in Russia is free, go to any metro station, find the newspaper kiosk and take a gander of the full range of publications ranging from far left to far right and everything in between.

What about "Temnyky" - otherwise known as Putins instructions to the press on what spin to put on stories- which you and jb6 mimic in your posts?

That very thing about Putin amd "Baikalinansgroup" is well-known. The quoted above Shenderovich repeated it in the interview he gave to "Ekho Moskvy". I think mentioning "Baikalfinansgroup" as a proxy is shameless. Unfortunately our bureaucrats are increasing shameless - they frequently publish such revelations in press. They just ceased to see such things as something bad.

Stop evading the issue - you are a mouthpiece for the Kremlin and what are you doing on this site?
