MOSCOW [MENL] -- Iran has quietly acquired three fighter-jets from Russia.

Russian industry sources said Teheran has procured three Su-25UBT twin-seat attack aircraft from Moscow. The sources said the contract was concluded in 2005 and deliveries would take place in 2006.

The deal marked the first Iranian purchase of the Su-25. In 2001, Iran negotiated with Georgia for surplus MiG-25s, but the two countries failed to reach agreement.

The sources said the Su-25UBT marked the most advanced model of the attack aircraft. They said the fighters received new electronic warfare and jamming systems.

The A-10 can survive the destruction of an engine. If the SU-25 gets an engine hit, it is toast.

When BushCo succeeds with its plot to start a major war against Iran, all of us "real" Americans must sacrifice by placing more yellow ribbons on our SUV's.

If Carter had stood-up to the mullahs when needed we wouldn't even be talking about it.

For that matter if Clinton had done something about terrorism instead of sitting on his hands while being hit time and again, we may not even be talking about it.

What is it about Democrats and their ineptitude?

Go read the following links about kill ratios in the ground and in the air and then come on back.

Battle of 73 Easting
Israeli Air Force

Of course, training has much to do with it too.

They can only justify their ideology with amnesia and myths. Use Murrymom as an example.

78days of fighting 24 hrs around the clock and with war cost of $60billion only 7 tanks and few fighters less than 10 were destroyed.

You're quite the propaganda machine.

---The Iranians have managed to keep some of their F-14 Tomcats going ... I don't think we've been helping them with spares or advice.---

I almost brought the F-14s up in my reply, but I found conflicting information. I have read that they haven't flown since the maintenance people scrambled out of iran after the overthrow of the shah. I have read that the Grumman people sabotaged the planes on their way out of the country. I have read that they have cannibalized some of the planes to keep others flying. and I have read that all 80 of them are operational.

I guess the bottom line is that nobody knows.

Quite a few Su-25s lost engines over Afghanistan and they weren't toast.

If Pukin' is around, maybe he can give us the straight dope on Iranian F14s ... Last I heard, they had a couple dozen or so flying (occasionally).

I believe that's correct, that they have been able to keep some flying at the expense of the others, plus generous helpings of duct tape and wire coathangers ;)

Stick with reality and stay away from that site. It's main purpose is anti-western propaganda and false intel.

Any identified hostile aircraft that the Serbs put up was either shot down or fell out of the sky on it's own.
