Imagine if Pete Wilson had appointed him on an interim basis instead of that other stiff.
That was one of his only major political blunders, IMO.
I remember, during his debate with Kathleen Connell, Pete Wilson promised to serve a full term if elected. One month after he won, he declared his candidacy for President. And, he did it in Manhattan with the Statue of Liberty as his background, not in California.
I didn't care for that.
