Good Monday morning, once again, fellow political jinkies. The NFL season may be over, but the political season inside the Beltway is 24/7/365. So join us, if you can, as those wacky Dems on the Senate Judiciary committee reprise their pitiful efforts to once again smear President Bush and score political points..
Gonzales speaking. WHen Specter asking if I'd be willing to go under oath, I told him I had no objections.
AQ and affiliates are still dangersous. OBL said recently we would see operations in our homes.
None of us can shrug off warnings. We are a nation at war. Nor can we forget this is a war against a radical enemy. AQ has no boundaries or standing armies. Their tactics constantly change. They use e-mail, internet, etc. to communicate.
Let the Dems try this stunt
I'm worried about it too, Bahbah.
On another note, I have seen baboons in the local zoo who were better looking than Waxman. Ughghgh, he is uuuugly!
Not without getting banned. :-)
Ha...I onced worked for a Quaker doctor...he didn't know the meaning of fidelity, he cheated on his poor wife left and right......
Gonzales: To succeed we can't just use military but all our technical skills.
We know from 9/11 Report they use internet, e-mail and telephones. Gen. Hayden, NSA director, testified last week that the program has helped us detect and prevent terror attacks here and abroad. The program is vital to the national defense.
Before going further, I am here to explain the department's assessment is consistent with our laws and the constitution. I'm not here to discuss the operational details or classified activity.
G: Some of the aspects must remain classified...
[Huge sighs from the libDems. Wanna bet they try to get him to reveal some of these during questioning???]
They are now going to go on record that the Al Queda effort is really just a law enforcement action...
Alito was not combative and he came out pretty good.
Being non-combative against these moonbats is a good thing IMO. Makes them look that much loonier if possible.
I think this hearing is going to be alot of soundbites, hot air, and end up with the public supporting the President.
Count on it!
Gonzales: As with all wartime operatoins, speed, agility and secrecy are important to success.
The president took safeguards for privacy of Americans. Only international communications, between a foreign country and this country, are authorized.
only when a career professional and NSA think a member and agent of AQ is communicating with someone here.
To protect the privacy of Americans, the NSA has given safeguards to protect Americans and information about citizens.
The program is conducted yb professionals in NSA. They make the decisions to initiate survelliance.
Gonzales: The program expires every 45 days and may be reauthorized but only if a determination that AQ continues to be a threat to America.
Bipartisan leadership has known about this fo ryears.
No members of Congress asked that the program be discontinued!!!
And MUST we be tutored in separation of powers by Henry Nostrildamus?
Senator Feingold is showing his butt already and the hearing has just begun.
I'm certain Gonzales can hold his own. also sure the antics of Democrats on this committee will hurt democrats more than their intended target, President Bush.
Gonzales: Article 2 of Constitution - the president has authority to act to protect Americans.
LIVE THREAD right here!
That one caught Biden's attention
He looked up and stopped writing notes
