FRANCE'S LE MONDE PUBLISHES FRONT-PAGE CARTOON OF MOHAMMED (Yippee!!!)

PARIS, Feb 2, 2006 (AFP) - France's respected daily newspaper Le Monde joined a European press campaign for freedom of expression Thursday with a front-page cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed and an editorial defending the right to ridicule religions.

The drawing by the paper's long-time cartoonist Plantu featured a head of the prophet made up of the words "I must not draw Mohammed" written repeatedly in long-hand.

"Religions are systems of thought, constructions of the spirit, beliefs which are to be respected certainly, but also freely analysed, criticised and even turned to ridicule," Le Monde said.

"A Muslim may well be shocked by a picture of Mohammed, especially an ill-intentioned one. But a democracy cannot start policing people's opinions, except by trampling the rights of man underfoot," it said.

Plantu told the newspaper that cartoonists and other humourists find it increasingly hard to touch on religion in their work.

"People do not understand to what point -- outside the Catholic Church which we can attack and which is, one has to say, very lenient -- it has become impossible to criticise religious things," he said.

Yup, and that's why it has wound its way into sharia, as is any criticism of the "prophet" and "allah" and why IMHO we must not "submit" to this.

Because they know the man and the facts surrounding him are the basis for the whole pack of lies that the house of cards called islam is based on. If mohamMAD is exposed, the entire house of cards based on his lies and will come down.

Well said. And so very, very true. Excellent post!!

Re your #33:

"...Imposing restrictions on images of mohamMAD is enforcing elements of sharia in the west."

Exactly.

When a significant percentage of the population of any nation becomes Muhummadean, that nation is going to find itself subjected to Sharia Law, without the benefit of any democratic process or "vote".
It will NOT be an option.

One day subjects will suddenly realize that a whole new set of rules has been imposed upon them;

Violate the laws of your government, and you might get a ticket, pay a fine, or perhaps go to jail.

Violate the laws of Sharia and you'll likely get blown up, shot, or have your head sawed off... perhaps along with your entire family.

It won't take long before a PC "Diverse and tolerant" (and / or convieniently disarmed and pacified) population understands what Islam demands all of Humanity to accept:

Submit or die.

And now Jordon is getting in the game.

The more the merrier! Let the world be awash in depictions of the unholy prophet to support free speech so their protests backfire on them! They have to learn their threats and intimidation will not work and if hey did not make such a big deal of this it would never have blown into something so huge in the first place.

"What brings more prejudice against Islam, these caricatures or pictures of a hostage-taker slashing the throat of his victim in front of the cameras or a suicide bomber who blows himself up during a wedding ceremony in Amman?" wrote Jihad Momani.

I have to say this editorial strikes me as particularly hostile. Why don't these guys make some constructive criticism of Islam instead of just being so worried about their right to mock religions?

If I had to guess, I would think the islamic world will explode any moment now (or is that just wishful thinking).

I've stocked up on popcorn just in case.

Re:

"Bear in mind that the owner of that newspaper is Egyptian, whereas the fired editor was French."

Didn't FOX News sort of back off on some of it's criticizm of Islam after a cetain Arab bought up a significant share of it's stock?

I wonder how many of our major media outlets are now majority owned or controlled by ME Muhhumadieans?

It will be interesting to see who buys America first;

The Chicoms, or the Arabs?

Of course, they might have to fight Mexico for us by then.

This is a case of Quod licet Jovi non licet bovi., that is 'what is permissible to Jove is not permissible to cattle. Apparently, the Islamicists see themselves as the Kings of the Universe, and the rest of us as mere cattle.

I've seen that alleged, though I haven't seen concrete evidence.

Other's have posted above that the Egyptian owner is a Coptic Christian, which I didn't know when I posted, so that definitely changes my perception of things some!

Unless, of course, your opinion is that sodomy is disgusting and that homosexuality is a perversion. In that case, you have no rights, right Frenchie?

That's fine. I just don't want people to think that this is all about these particular cartoons and their particular content. Any depiction of Mohammed, even in a completely reverent context, has always been forbidden by Islam.
