I'm reminded of the classic science fiction story, "Marching Morons," by C. M. Kornbluth.

I remember it well.

``The Marching Morons'' is a very famous story by C. M. Kornbluth. It was originally published in Galaxy, April, 1951. The story has since been reprinted many times. It is widely considered to be an SF classic and has been included in the Science Fiction Hall of Fame. There is a series of SFHF books, in which you can find this story reprinted.

I'm not familiar with the story, but the title fits,at least in part.

This "protest" will have it's share of morons, but the leaders and organizers are a breed all their own.
