I think the last census showed exactly 20 Republicans in RI.

Yeah. Why don't you people in RI, send a Democrap from your state, so Conservatives who live in fantasy land, can quit whining.

"How are we going to get anything done if we can't work together?"

Simple: by voting with your party. 55 votes is 4 more than is required to pass legislation and confirm nominees. Try it sometime, Lincoln!

That means we only need eleven votes.

"In Judge Alito we see patterns, patterns which demonstrate a hostility to the disadvantaged and the poor," said Kerry, the Democrats' 2004 presidential nominee.

John Kerry - champion of the poor. LMAO!

the democrats promised that they would not fillibuster, then demagoguesd themselves into a corner by endorsing Kennedy's rhetoric. They HAD to fillibuster or else lose face (if Alito is as bad as they say, they shouldnt' let him on)

problem is that they made this deal, and they are now faced with the reputation for not standing by their word, that they cannot be trusted.

let the republicans harp on this lack of reliance on the democrats - tell the world.

This Post article fits, hand in glove, with the other Post article Study Ties Political Leanings to Hidden Biases , which probably was released today in order to prove Alito must be biased, because he is a conservative.

Here is what this is really all about.

Republicans and some Democrats criticized the attempt to keep Alito from getting a confirmation vote on Tuesday before Bush's State of the Union address

Anyone with an ounce of sense in his head should know that Chaffee was release to vote no, because there are enough votes to confirm. He would have voted Aye if his voted was needed.

Thankyou!

However, for Hyper-Conservatives, that is way too much common-sense.

Its more important to lose bravely than to play the game and win!

Gosh, I hope you are right. One would think that when push came to shove ole' Linc would do the right thing but I dunno anymore.

Kennedy going ballistic! This is great.Didn't have the presence of mind to yield the balance of his time when he stopped. It's not just Senate to Decide on Ending Alito Debate,it's senate to end 30+years of positivists twisting and contorting the constitution that's got that old windbag all steamed up.I nominate Kennedy for an Oscar.A write-in.

People don't seem to understand that a Tom Coburn will never win in a state like RI, which is 80% Democrat. It is amazing that even a RINO can win there. He has a tricky balancing act to play.

BINGO!!! Some folks on here will never understand politics 101 because they are blinded by their own beliefs. What flies here in Oklahoma will never fly in Rhode Island and vice versa. Until some folks realize that, they are going to keep getting upset.
