DE QUEEN, Ark. (AP) - A woman accused of smothering her three children was distraught over the breakup of her marriage and told police that she blessed the children before suffocating them, a prosecutor said Monday.
Eleazar Paula Mendez pleaded not guilty to three counts of capital murder and was ordered held without bail Monday. The judge also ordered a mental evaluation.
Mendez, 43, told investigators she tried to kill herself on Friday by ingesting ant poison, Prosecutor Tom Cooper said. She said the children saw her take the pesticide and asked her to kill them, too, he said.
``'I blessed them and then I suffocated them,''' Mendez told investigators, according to Cooper.

Yes, fellow taxpayers there are now billions of dollars in that pot, or should I say "trough?" All a woman has to do to get help in defending the crimes she commits is, well, be a woman. I hear you. Why charge the teenager who gave birth and dumped her baby into the dumpster when 5 hours earlier an abortion would have been perfectly legal? I'm against abortion, but our laws are giving mixed signals to people. Killing is killing, no matter what stage of life. Abortion blurs that line.

According to the numbers in this report there are more children killed (in the years cited) than women who were victims of intimate partner homicide (domestic violence). However, there is no Violence Against Children Act like there is a Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), with billions in special, privileged funding. To bad there isn't a powerful lobby for innocent children like there is for the gender feminist scam known as VAWA. Oh, but it would look bad for "women as a political group," when it become wide spread public knowledge that largest group killing those children were the children's own biological Mothers. Oh no, the Democrat run, gender feminists can't let that get out.
I hear Dianne Feinstein talk about women's rights during the Alito confirmation hearings and I want to vomit on my television set over the hypocrisy.
Lastly, and certainly leastly, men are 76% of all homicides and 26% of intimate partner homicides, but no one really gives a d _ _ _ about that so I'm so sorry to waste time mentioning it.
