Good Monday morning, fellow Freeper political junkies. One of the more ridiculous episodes of political theater is about to play itself out on the Senate floor, as the John Kerry-led democrats mount an exercise in political futility which will further expose their total irrelevance..So join us today, or drop in on occasion, for the festivities...

Bill Kristol reporting that Kerry's own staff and senior democrats advised against filibuster but Kerry felt the need to out left Gore Didn't this happen also during his Pres election campaign - seem like I remember news reports of him ignoring staff advice. He truly is a FOOL.

A good one, musicman. Have you seen the trailer?
We were unable to get the song into the trailer with the limited time we had to edit.

CNN just announced that the gang of 14 will meet one hour before the vote. He speculated that they will agree that this is not severe enough to filibuster and will end it Just tuned in here on the west coast. Spare me sifting through all these posts.....when is the vote time??

Bingo. Since the next nominee will be a minority who will be filibustered, the Dems can't be seen going after this person after having given 2 white guys a pass. What makes you think it will be or should be a minority? Let'em filibuster a minority, hell, I'd love to see them filibuster a female nominee. It'll just show the American people this talk about "minority rights" and "womens rights" the left loves to trot out is just a bunch of hooey-balooey.
The left couldn't go after Alito's stellar career on the bench, so they were left with attacking his character and dragging his wife into the whole sordid mess.

Add Bill Nelson (Fla) to the likely to vote for cloture column. Harkin to abstain.

Very interesting how DiFi and Biden apparently ignore the will of the people in their respective states.

And in '08, if they smarten up enough to run a reasonably credible candidate, and the Pubbies are dumb enough to run a milquetoast RINO like Chaffee or McCain... No chance either gets through a Republican primary.

Do the democrats really want to filibuster a Supreme Court nominee who's intent is to adhere to the US Constitution? How far out of tune with Americans must you be to promote such actions? I do not understand.

RE Chaffee, I was looking at the lib ADA rankings (through 2004), and was not surprised that Chaffee's ranking of 55 was almost identical to Ben Nelson's (D Nebraksa) 60.

Dude, if you're going to post a picture of flip-flops, go to the source: surfers. And if you're gonna refer to surfers, then you have to know that Reef is the best selling brand. And if you know that much, then you know that Reef runs 2-page adverts in every surf mag that look like this:

This is a serious question. Where are the grownups in the dem party? Where have they gone? Lieberman does not meet the test. Alito is clearly qualified, yet he will vote no
I'm actually starting to wonder what's going to happen to the Republicans, as the Democrats cease to be a viable opposition party. Things could get much more interesting.

She is calculating that they won't be angry enough to dispense with her.
She may be right. I hope not, but she may be.
She also needs to keep the money flowing.
