WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. John Kerry has decided to support a filibuster to block the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court, CNN's Congressional Correspondent Ed Henry reported Thursday. Kerry, in Davos, Switzerland, to attend the World Economic Forum, was marshaling support in phone calls during the day, Henry said.

Its not about who will vote for Alito, its about who will vote for Cloture. There are dems that will not vote for Alito, but will vote for Cloture (i.e Difi, etc).. If Cloture passes, you cant filibuster.

Those who claim the hard left doesn't control the Democrats owe us all an apologyThey didn't filibuster anybody yet. The junior senator from Massachussetts is not the party.
He's just fundraising.

Feinstein will probably vote for cloture as well.

I don't think they have the votes -- especially if Frist holds the Republicans together. Both Landrieu and Byrd have come out against a filibuster.
To: Tijeras_Slim
Correct. He waited until he knew there were sufficient votes for cloture and comes out in support of a filibuster. Only positives in it for him.

I think Kerry is playing to the nutballs at the DU and kos but it does concern me some; because Kerry is a political coward and he might know a filibuster or attempt is coming and wants to take credit for it.

Battlebots.

The Democrats can put a stake through Kerry's heart now or put up with his damaging tantrums through the election cycle.
