"One of the three overarching goals for the Healthy People 2000 prevention initiative was to reduce health disparities among Americans.1 The framework of Healthy People 2010 has taken this a step further by proposing to 'eliminate health disparities' as one of the two primary goals for the next decade."

If not too much trouble, can you give me a one or two sentence comment on the significance of this quotation? (I'm just joining the topic today.) Thank you. I'm working on group targeting a specific health condition, and one of the members is adamant about including the wording "reduce health disparities" to the point that I'm suspicious of the motive. Now, today I see your post.

When you put that statement, 'eliminate health disparities', into google, it seems to have turned into a political buzzword. IMO, it seems to be tied to a racial and ethnic innuendo;
