I'm reading this thread but can't tell if the conservatives are winning or losing. Anyone wanna help?

Those are official counts- the media get the numbers from the individual polling stations. On TV they show the number of reported and total number of polls for each riding, and the seat totals they show are for both elected and leading.

Considering the Conservatives had no representation in French Canada in 2004, this is their breakthrough.

Look, folks. You're talkin' like the Dems that promised to move to France if W beat Kerry. We are conservatives. Don't make a promise you don't intend to keep.
I know what you're saying,I really do,but I kind of don't blame our fellow conservatives in Canada. We lose elections too,and the rats have the government for a while, but at least it's pretty cyclical here. I'm probably not going far enough back, but if I lived in a place where conservatives couldn't get a strong foothold in government even when the left is this corrupt, morally bankrupt, and void of vision other than "keep voting us in and we'll keep footing the bills",never trying to induce a shred of pride and initiative in its citizens, and it looked like staying that way,I'd want to chuck the place too.I'm not even Canadian, and I feel really bad for these guys. And their liberal government has already moved Canada farther left than the USA would (right now anyway)ever tolerate going.I'd be thinking of a permanent move, and God knows I love my country and my state. I just couldn't stand it. I hope all this is moot, and the Canadian Conservatives get at least enough tonight to plant their feet and get in for the long haul.

No, I'm not talking to myself - have to take off for a while, be back later - hopefully to find that Canada has a Conservative government. G'nite for now! :)

oh LOL
I was just wondering if that's like getting a GOP senator and half of the house from California or something when you normally don't get something like that....
