Since when has "Carolina-ball" been based on a breakaway threat at running back?

Remember, we played over half the year with Stephen Davis at running back. Bruising between the tackles kind of stuff. Goings is the perfect back up for that style. That's why DeShaun Foster struggled earlier. They literally had to change the running game to suit his style.

It's not a matter of being based on a breakaway run threat, it's a matter of HAVING a breakaway run threat. In order to run more than 20 yards a guy needs to break tackles, breaking tackles is a handy skill even for short yards, a guy that's never gone longer than 17 yards doesn't break tackles, hence Goings ain't that good. THere's a reason he's #3 on the depth chart.

Yeah Davis knew how to break tackles. Goings is a good BACKUP for that style, problem is today he's the FEATURE back, and he's just not that guy.
