What the heck is wrong with bratwursts, pickles, and beer? What's unhealthy about that? Sheesh! Pickles are vegetables, right? So's mustard...stuff's made from seeds, after all.
Yeah...bratwursts...It's lunchtime.

so. beer drinkers can beat up wine drinkers.
To: Cagey
Wine drinkers are also more inclined toward buggery, so there goes the healthy diet.

Something tells me the study was funded by the wine industry.

Let's equalize it for social class. Compare those who buy $10 bottles of wine with those who buy $10 bottles of beer. I don't think you'll find much difference then.

Where's the breakdown of male to female?
I would bet women drink more wine than men, and men drink more beer than women!
Gosh, I could do a study and make BIG bucks!

Do you prefer wine or beer?
Ask W. C. Fields.....who once said he had lost his lunch. When asked, what happened ...... He said, the cork came out!

Wine drinkers are also more inclined toward buggery, so there goes the healthy diet.I really like to make data driven decisions. So do you have a study (pause to take a sip of wine) to back up that claim?

I have known people who thought beer WAS food. I am thinking of my husband's uncles specifically.
Hummmmmm why did we call them winos if they drank beer???? Oh yeah I remember now, they drank ANYTHING including hair tonic.

Since health officials have told the public that drinking wine, esp red wine is better for your health. It stands to reason that people who are health concious will buy more wine than beer. So I agree with the article. It is really saying that people who buy healthier food include wine in their purchases. The researchers could have found this out by interviewing the people at the store.
The problem with this as a generality is that wine and beer taste different and go with different foods. I like beer most of the time over wine, (unless its really expensive wine that someone else is buying). I also try to eat healthy foods, but recognize that beer goes with a lot of foods when the weather favors cool drinks. I can't put a lot of faith in the study, but to be on the safe side, when I buy lots of healthy veggies, I will buy some wine as well. (Someone might be checking out my purchases).

My favorite W.C. Fields line came from a movie where an obviously hung over Fields is walking down the street until he comes to the local saloon, whose saloonkeeper is sweeping the porch. Fields walks up to the saloonkeeper and the following exchange occurs.
Fields: I say sir, did I come in here last night and spend a fifty dollar bill on music and booze.
Saloonkeeper: Yes sir, you certainly did.
Fields: THANK GOD. I thought I had lost it.
