I have also heard that the main problem with body armour is the heat many of the troops find it too hot and too restictive to wear it.

Yes, another red herring by Kerry and the Rats. It adds to the weight of what they already carry and some troops would rather not rely on heavier armour but on freedom to move and respond quickly to gunfire.

Nor is this new. It's also talked about in the book Blackhawk Down. Same response to weight and comfort.
