Iran faces 'destruction' - Israel warns

HERZLIYA, Israel, Jan. 21 (UPI) --

Israeli Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz warned the Iranian people Saturday that they faced "destruction" unless they managed to restrain their new President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

"Look at the fate of others who sought the destruction of the Jewish people. They only brought havoc and destruction to the own people," Mofaz said.

"I know that a large part of the people of Iran do not support his policies but his despicable acts could bring destruction to all of you. You understand what must be done to prevent this," Mofaz added, directly addressing the Iranian people.

It was the toughest statement of Israel's determination to block Iran's nuclear ambitions since the stroke that felled Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon two weeks ago, and it came just two days before the next scheduled international inspection of Iran's nuclear research facilities.

"I will make of thee a great nation.....And I will bless them that bless thee and curse them that curse thee; and through thee shall all the families of the earth be blessed." (Gen. 12:2-3)

This is the scripture that ignites true believers of Christ to support and pray for Israel.

If Iran uses nukes that will be the last act of their country and the opening salvo of an active world war 3.

I like the way that's phrased. Lets the Iranians know that their "leader" is someone who requires a leash.

"It's that God watches over His Word and keeps His promises. Iran is on dangerous grounds."

I would say they were on self extinction grounds.

The Mullahs may or may not be pulling Mr. A's strings, but whatever's going on it's high past time to bring closure to what began back in 1979 and consign the "Revolution" to the ash heap of history.

"Then Iran will "have" an excuse to nuke them."

If they get a chance.

Israel has the finest intelligence in the world. I suspect they know the location of each launch site. If any are missing and were to launch, our overhead kodaks would pin-point the location in a flash.

If they do get hit, the Israelis will turn all of Iran (but not fast enough) into a glob of green glass.

The world will become an interesting place immediately after!

One concern is the troops we have in the theater. If anyone retaliates against Israel we will be drawn in in a big way and fast.

I gotta believe that when Israel acts, the US will know about it in advance, and will have pre-positioned enough assets to take out Iran if need be.

Ahmadinejad probably sees (in his mind) an opportunity to change the power structure in the Middle East. Remember that Iran and Iraq fought a brutal ten year war against each other. With tumult in Iraq, he probably is calculating that Iran can supplant Iraq as the preeminent Islamic power in the region. Especially if Iran is a nuclear nation.

I would suggest that he is attempting to counter what he sees as an attempt to 'Westernize' the Muslim world, with Iraq as the linchpin.

With his escalating threats against Israel, it appears that he is trying to undermine American efforts due to our history of friendship with the nation of Israel. One might say he is attempting to start WWIII.

He may be successful.

PS..check out the IFCJ.org site....Rabbi Eckstein heads up this organization which joins christians and jews in helping support and transport needy jews to Israel.

"If Iran uses nukes that will be the last act of their country and the opening salvo of an active world war 3."

I'm not so sure. Most in the ME are beginning to understand that mullah run dictatorships are going to be a source of trouble forever. Peace/democracy in the world is starting to catch hold, grudgingly but coming.

Only the troublemakers on the perimeter (China, Russia, France, etc) can stir the flames. Those under the bombs are less susceptable to their BS now!

I HOPE!

If we do not strike the Mullahs' nuke sites soon, millions and perhaps tens of millions of people will needlessly die.

Pres. Bush needs to show courage and do the right thing.

It's 1938 all over again. Don't blink.

The statement by France the other day regarding the nuclear option may have seemed peculiar, but not surprising. Something tells me that French intelligence has come across some information, and that the French are speaking to Ahmadinejad.

He probably sees a sucessful American intervention in Iraq, and perhaps sees nuclear blackmail as the only way to force a withdrawal of Western forces.

If there is a such thing as an Iranian patriot(s) out there , they would do Iran a favor by killing this guy. He is going to bring a calamity upon the whole Muslim world.
